I too, am tracing the Chittenden line. However most of my Chittenden's are not as old and come from Lanzo Chittenden from New York, wife not known, this is in the 1800's.
They are also connected to the Goodier line which goes back to Engleand to the 1700's.
Will post more after this weekend, working.

That was a nice post, Dot. It gave me more information. I am not aware of the
Chittenden line going back further than Robert, but it would be great if this
was studied by someone. I have adopted the Chittenden list and group.

Greetings to the List!

Anyone out there interested in trading info? Maybe someone has info on
Robert Chittenden, the earliest ancestor on that line, although the Sheaffe
line goes back much further.
Let's stir up some action!

Hi Terry (and all), Glad to see you are out there! Terry, I've seen your website--WOW, lots of work, I admire you! Also see your postings on GenForum quite often. I have most of the info on Rev. Lyman, John Hany, and some of the others, however it will take me a bit to dig it up and--get it typed in. I am looking for a marriage on Lyman's son William Riley Chittenden. A cousin found her name as Elmyra Jane Roberson, they married in Ind. or Ill (probably Ill) c 1843/4, My gg-gm was b 1845, the eldest child. Any help appreciated--they lived in Knox County, Ill. in 1843 when his father Lyman died, but did not marry there. Neither Ill nor Ind marriage search comes up with a m. Cheers, Leah
Hi Leah
I got your post and found it interesting. I have your line down to Lyman
Chittenden, but nothing further as Talcott stops there in his book. Could you
give the spouse for Lyman, and his children, with dates and places of birth,
death, and marriage? The line down would be most interesting, and you could
stop it before the privacy of any living persons would be affected.
I have all of Talcott's 1882 Chittenden book on my Fowler gen. page off my main
site below my name. I also have it on WorldConnect in my Fowler gedcom there.
That site is faster and can be reached at:
http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/
I am descended six different lines from William Chittenden and Joanna Sheaffe.

Is anyone out there? I am on the William Chittenden/Joanna Sheaffe line, down through Deacon Moses,Rev. Lyman, William Riley, Eunice Ann Chittenden. Leah Davis
Hi Y'all, I am working on finding a marriage certificate for William Riley Chittenden and Elmyra Jane Roberson (Robeson/Robertson) Census states they were both born in Va. (WV?). Their eldest child was b. 1845, and they lived in Knox County Ill on the 1850 census and moved to Warren County, Iowa in the 50's, where they are buried. He was the son of Reverend Lyman Chittenden and wife Eunice Hany.
