Note the Chisum/Chisum lived in the Nacogdoches Territory of what was then
the Republic of Mexico and later Republic of Texas. The Wallings, Parkers
and several other families from AL/MS lived there too. My grandfather's
grandmother was Susan Amanda Roland, daughter of Sarah or Flora Ann Chisum
and Allen Rowland/Roland of NC. Allan was the son of William Isham and
Elizabeth Thomas Roland. Their family line goes back to Deborah Cook and
John Chisum, This is where it gets complicated as John Chisum (son of John
and Margaret) married Margaret Chisum (daughter of William and Deborah Cook
Chisum. My great grandmother was a Glass and the families seemed to "travel"
together as they too were in AL in the area of the Treating of the Running
Rabbit. Isham Russell Chisum (1775 VA), a son of John and Margaret Chisum,
married Permedia "Milly" Roberts, dau of George and Rhonda Walling Roberts.
I'm trying to make sense of all this info as they keep intermarrying with my
great grandmother's side as well (she was connected to the Chitty line) What
I'm trying to say is they lived in the next county at or about the same
time, the descendants, with some moving to Rusk and Cherokee Counties which
originally was part of th Nacogdoches Territory. My dad's side, his great
grandfather and two other men who were commissioners divided this territory
into several counties. By the way has anyone heard of Thomas Chisholm called
"orkenmnastata Mennwkalulu??? The Chisum trail runs trough Nacogdoches
County and supposedly married for Jesse Chisum/Chisholm, however there is
some discussion as to whether he was connected. Seems to much of a
concidence to not be some connecction. The Parkers and Roberts settled here
as well along with my dad's line early before we were known as Texas.
