In the below message I meant my Great Great Grandfather who was born 1829 in TN.John Simpson Chisum was born in TN (Hardeman Co 1824)
My Grandfather's middle name was Chisum...John Chisum Box.(documents, deeds often have his middle name spelled Chisholm...but leagly it was Chisum)
I was told he was named after someone in the family that was related to John Simpson Chisum.
I know there was a Chisum Trail and a Chisholm trail ....John Simpson Chisum....was a cattle man who never married...but apparently had two daughters.
Does any one have any information Concerning a connection between John Chisum and the Box family.
He apparently lived somewhere near Bolivar Tx., then NM and died in Arkansas
