Hi Miuke,
There are two newspaper articles held in a collection at the archives of University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
"This collection contains the newsclipping of articles by Lucy Marion Reaves Utterback that appeared in the Arkansas Gazette during the 1930s and 1940s. The newspaper column was biographical in nature and concentrated on 19th centruy pioneer families that settled in Arkansas, their origins, and contributions to the state."
The articles both concern Mrs Oscar Chisum, but they are biographical in nature, so you just never know what you might find.
Tennessee would be a good place for Oscar's birth or his fathers birth. The Chisum DNA project might also be useful in providing ancestral information.
regards
Robert Chisholm

Oscar Clifton Chisum Sr. is my great grandfather. He was born in either Austin, Arkansas or Tennessee around 1860. He married Catherine (Katie) Sowell in 1892. He built the Chisum House, which is located on Cumberland Street in Little Rock. I am trying to trace back from him, and have no idea who his parents were. In the 1900 and 1910 census, he states his parents were from Tennessee. In 1920, he states they were from Arkansas. I would appreciate any information on him, or his parents. Please leave a message, or contact me at lfmoc(a)hotmail.com. Thanks- Mike Chisum
