Bentonville Naomi J. Chism Evans
Naomi J. Chism Evans, 76, of Bentonville, Ark., died Friday, July 19, 2002,
at Bates Medical Center in Bentonville. She was born Nov. 9, 1925, in
Bentonville to John Townzen and Jessie Hutcheson Townzen.
She was employed by CTS in Bentonville. She was a member of the Park Street
Baptist Church of Bentonville.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Carl Chism Jr., on Nov. 12, 1964,
and Joseph Evans, on Oct. 8, 2000; a brother, Clarence Townzen; and a
sister, Marjorie Mathis.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Dwight Chism and Helen
Chism of Gravette, Ark., and Chuck Chism and Joan Chism of Bentonville; a
brother, Marvin Townzen of Bentonville; a sister, Ruth Wade of Rogers, Ark.;
six grandchildren, Julie Cook, Karla Ballmann, Tracy Warren, Katie Martin,
Lisa Baldwin and Brandi Roland; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at the Park Street
Baptist Church of Bentonville
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 22, at the Park Street
Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Roughton.
Burial will be at the Bentonville Cemetery with arrangements by the Benton
County Funeral Home of Rogers, Ark.

I am looking for info on my ggrandparents on both sides. I have a Chisum that married a King, and a Driver that married a Sanders. I have no dates, but they were all born in the late 1800's. The female Chisum died at a young age. They were all from Arkansas, I believe. Any information would help.

KATHRYN L. CHISM
Ann Arbor
Kathryn L. Chism, 55, of Ann Arbor died June 25, 2002, at Arbor Hospice. She
was born Dec. 25, 1946, in Highland Park, the daughter of Jack W. and Edythe
(Watson) Chism.
Ms. Chism graduated from Cass Technical High School in 1964, and graduated
cum laude from Eastern Michigan University in 1975 with a bachelors degree
in music performance and psychology. After high school, she toured South
America with the Michigan Youth Chorale.
While at EMU, Mrs. Chism composed a piece of music, which later she
performed with three members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in a public
performance.
Ms. Chism participated in the music program at Holy Trinity Chapel on EMUs
campus and St. Mary Catholic Church in Ann Arbor.
Her favorite job was at the Full Circle Community Center in Ypsilanti, where
she worked as support staff for the last five years.
For the past two years, Ms. Chism courageously battled cancer. She shared
her lovely voice whenever she was asked, and even in the midst of
chemotherapy and radiation treatment, she continued to participate in chapel
services at the Chelsea Retirement Community.
Survivors include her mother, Edie Scovill of Chelsea; a brother, John P.
(Anita) Chism of Wixom; a stepbrother, Donald B. (Kathleen) Scovill of
California; aunts and uncles, Geraldine Morse, Mary and Don Meyer; and
several nieces, nephews, cousins.
Ms. Chism was preceded in death by her father, Jack Chism, in 1956 and her
stepfather, Louis Scovill, in 2002.
Ms. Chism was loved by family, friends and coworkers, and will be greatly
missed.
A memorial service was held Monday at Chelsea Retirement Community. The Rev.
Richard Dake officiated.
The family received friends at Cole Funeral Chapel. Burial was at Grandlawn
Cemetery in Detroit.
Memorial donations may be made to Full Circle Community Center or Catholic
Social Services.
