Can anyone help? My gggrandmother was Elizabeth Chisum
that married John Elias Barron. I believe her parents were
John Monroe Chisum and Mary Elizabeth George. I have some information that John Chisum and J. R. Chisum came to
Limestone County, Tx. in 1855 but that is about all that I have.
It seems like there are alot of John Chisums.
Thank you.
I would be interested to learn if anybody has succeeded in following anybody
with the name CHISSIM or similar across the Atlantic?
I have been researching the name in England for a number of years - it is my
wife's paternal line and as far as I am aware she is the only surviving
blood relation carrying the name in the UK.
It is a difficult family to trace and to date I have only succeeded back to
approximately 1750 and this is in the South East of England. I have also
got earlier records in Northumberland and Scotland put cannot, at the
present, find the links.
I have found several persons of this name that have arrived on the Amercan
continent and wonder if they appear in anybody's tree/trees? They are
1. James CHISSIM. He was a farmer from Bellie in Moray, Scotland and he
left Stornoway on the Clementina for Philadelphia on 13th July 1775 aged 42.
It states he emigrated in the hope of procuring a better livelihood.
2. William CHISSIM with wife and one child
3. Donald CHISSIM with wife two children
4. Hugh CHISSIM with wife and five children - These three were members of
the King's Royal Regiment of New York
and were seeking permission to go to Canada. The date is unsure but
thought to be 1779.

Looking for information on Carrie Chisum (not sure about the spelling of her maiden name.)
She lived in Alabama and her husband's name was John Wesley Coleman.
I'm trying to help a friend.
Thank you!

I am trying to find out some information on the connection of the Chisum's in TX and Governor James Hogg of TX. My grandmother and all her siblings said they were kin to him. I also know that my Mother and Aunt went to Stephensville , Tx and visited a distant relative that had Civil War records showing where a confederate Officer I believe was Tom Chisum changed the spelling from Chisolm to Chisum during the War. Any info on these people would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Sherry Burns d49burns(a)tri-lakes.net
