Hello, I am researching the line of John and Elleanor Gilleninte Chism of Amelia county. I am traceing thier son Elisha Chisum who was born about 1746. I was sent a deed that was found in Warren county, Kentucky 1835, where Elleanor his mother made. She mentioned 8 of her children and 11 of her grandchildren of the Estes family. She named the unknown heirs of the children that had already deceased by 1835. Elisha was one of them.
I first find Elisha Chism on the 1799 Grainger county, Tax list, along with an Elisha Jr. and also Elisha's brother Elijah, Elijah married Lucy Clairborn. Also Elisha's wife was Winniefred, also known as Wenny. Wenny was a member of the Spring Creek Baptist church from 1803 to 1805, She was dissmissed by letter in 1805, Elijah and his wife Lucy were members till 1807. I loose Wenny and Benjamin from 1805 and pick them back up in Ark. Lawrence county, 1820. Elisha was on the Lawrence county, Census 1820, he died there in 1827 and left a will nameing his wife as WEnny, also he mentioned a son named Washington.
We also believe Elisha had a son named Benjamin born 1796, he married a Polly, we have been told that her maiden name was Walker. she was the daughter of John Adam Walker and Elizabeth Hood.
other children of Elisha and Wenny were
Elisha Jr.
George Washington Chism, who married Elizabeth Caroline Burgess, Jane Lankford and Jane Knighten, two known children of Knighten and Chism . Elisha and Christopher Green Chism.
Elleanor Nellie Chism who married John Adam WAlker Jr.also a son of John Adam Walker Sr. and Elizabeth Hood.
Russell Chism.
Benjamin, he was the one that is mentioned above.
I trace Benjamin and Wenny to Independence and Izard county, Ark. Wenny was listed as a Pioneer and Maker of Ark. she was listed as being over the age of 70 in 1831. I think the dates of her age may be wrong.
Wenny left Ark. about 1839 and returned to Overton county, Tn. she was on the census listed as a widow.
But by 1850 she is back in Ark. Randolph county, with a son named Russell living with her. Randolph is now a part of Lawrence county, Ark.
Benjamin and Wenny had children Isham, Henderson, William born 1827, Thomas, Washington, Wenny, Elizabeth and Elisha.
This family was in Izard county, Ark. about 1831 up to 1860. Benjamin and his sons were on the Poll tax lists as well. We don't know if Benjamin died in Ark. or moved sometime after 1860.
I am hopeing someone who has researched John and Elleanors line can point me in the direction of where I may find this family from 1805 to 1820, this could actually help fill in some blanks? Thanks Vickie

Hello cousin,
My Chisum lineage goes way way back. But the latest ancestor was as follows:
Anna Chisum who married John Walling. Anna was born in Virginia. She died in Mississippi. Her husband John Walling remarried and moved to Texas near Nacogdoches.
Ann Chisum's parents were Margaret Chisum and John Chisum III. They were cousins.
This lineage goes back to a James Cheesome on the Chisum side and even ack to the 11th century on spouses of Chisum's.
What do you have?
E-mail me at:

or

The computer that I have access to AOL is down until Tuesday. I have the family genealogy on that computer and will not be able to access it in its interity until then. But if you go on the Family Tree and type in Anna Chisum and go to the 5th one down you will see how far the lineage goes back.
I would love tohear from you
