I have looked some for them, but everytime, I think I may have found
something, it turns out to be, Elijah, his brother who married Lucy, I find
Elisha and Elisha on the 1799 Grainger county, Tax list, but everyone says
that it is Elijah.
I do know that Elijah and his wife Lucy, were members of the Spring Creek
Baptist church from 1803 to about 1809, Elijah's slave was also named Big
Sam, apparently this slave did attend church with them often, Wenny is
mentioned, but not my Elisha, Wenny , was dismissed in 1805 by letter, they
must have been on the move? The deed in WArren county, Kentucky showed
Elisha was already desceased, the Elisha I have did die in 1827, We don't
know who was the mother of Benjamin, Elizabeth, etc. was it Elizabeth Walden
by his first marriage, or by WEnny his second wife, This line has been very
hard to trace, one reason, Ark. is a very hard state to research, all
records were destroyed by fire, the only thing we have to go is the tax list
and census, My Elisha was in ARk. as early as 1817, he remained there, WEnny
and Benjamin migrated to Izard county, Wenny was there up until about 1838,
she them moved back to Overton county, Tn.
Benjamin remained in Ark. until sometime after 1861, I am assuming he died
there, he is on the tax list from 1829 to 1861, I do appreciate your help,
and I will start diggin again in those counties you mentioned, Thanks Vickie

Hello, I am tracing Elisha Chisum, born about 1746, son of John and Elleanor Gilletine Chisum.
Elisha was named in a deed in 1835 as a son of Elleanor Gillentine Chisum.
He was in Grainger county, Tn. and his wife Wenny was a member of the Spring Creek Baptist church along with Elijah and Lucy Clairborne from 1803 to 1805, Wenny was dismissed by letter.
I loose this family from 1805 to 1bout 1817, Does anyone happen to know anything about this line.
They start showing up in Lawrence county, Ark. 1820, on the census, Lawrence was once a part of MO.
Also Elisha may have been married twice?
I find Elisha Chisum who married Elizabeth WAlden in 1787, Lincoln county, Kentucky.
Then Elisha died in 1827, nameing his wife as Wenny.
I am hopeing someone may know of this connection. Thanks Vickie
Dear List:
I have been researching the History of slaves that once belong to David
ChisholmeJr., for sometimes, recently I went to the Afro-Louisana web site
and entered his name. there were four hits, all of these hits were slaves
that he sold in Louisiana, the name of the slaves were Judith, Barnabe,
Sarah, and another one with out a name. what I have read about this man was
that he was a solider or maybe an attorney, however I believe that he sold
and traded in human chattel. In 1816 my great great great grandmother was
listed with her children, Hannah and Ned. I have found a few things in the
libraries with Ned's name and two of his brothers, but nothing of Hannah and
Bridget. my thought now is that he may have sold them.
If any one who belongs to the family of David Chisholme who may have during
their research come across any information on him and his sales, I would
appreciate if you would share with me. Also if anyone might lead me to the
areas that did a lot slaves sales, I would appreciate it and what information
that I have I am willing to share. thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Antoinette J. Russell
