Can someone tell me the year the Elleanor Gillentine Chisum moved to
Kentucky? Did she follow James and Obediah? I am trying to find more
info on my Elisha Chisum son of John and Elleanor Gillentine. I had a
Chisum Monograph mailed to be months ago, and just recently found out
that Elisha was a son of Elleanor and John Chisum of Amelia county.
Also there was two Elisha Chisums in Grainger county, Tn. on the 1799
tax list there was Elisha Chism and Elisha Chism Jr. along with Elijah
Chism . I am assuming this Elijah is the son of John and Elleanor and
the one who married Lucy Clairborn Chism and the grandparents of Cow
John Chisum? I am still learning about this family.
Anyway, Elisha died in 1827, either the old Elisha or Elisha Jr. he
left a will nameing his wife as Wenny, also Wenny shows up on 1803 to
1807 on the Spring Creek Baptists church records along with Elijah and
Lucy and there daughter Elizabeth Chisum who married Nimrod Dodson.
All were members up until 1807, except for Wenny, she was dismissed by
letter in 1805,
Dates show the Elisha was born in 1746,
on one article in arkansas, in 1830, Izard county, the book Pioneers
and Makers of Ark. list Wenny as one of nine people in Izard county,
Ark. as a Pioneer, she was listed over the age of 70, she leaves ark .
and goes to Overton county, where she is listed as a widow,
But in 1850, Randolp county ,Ark. Wenny Chism is age 64, born North
Carolina, with a son named Russell W. age 24, he would have been born
1826, I don't think he would have been a son of Elisha's, Elisha was
almost 80 years old when he died,
I may be dealing with two Wennys, a daughter of Elisha and Wenny? This
has me puzzled, other articles say Elisha married a woman by the last
name of Russell in Union county, Sc.
Then other articles have him listed as Isham Elisha or Elisha Isham
Chism? Does anyone have any clues as to where this Elisha may have
moved from 1805 to 1820, I have a 15 year gap then I find him in 1820,
I was thinking this may be Elisha Chism Jr. but 3 years after the
death of Elisha, and Elisha Chism shows up on the 1831 , Lawrence
county, Ark. tax list? anyone have any ideas? Thanks Vickie
