Can you please send some names and dates? We have James Chism, married at 23
to Elizabeth Fletcher.
Nathaniel Chism married Elizabeth Dawson (Nathaniel could be James'
brother)
Thomas married Elizabeth Crim ca 1797. Thomas was quite a bit older than
James and Nathaniel. All three were born in Virginia. Don't know the county.
These are the connections that I am trying to find. I'll help if I can.

Subject: [SlaveAfriGeneas] the walkers, chisms, tutts again....Missouri & Virginia
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

Hello Everyone.....
I've been going through a pile of probate records and wills on the
Cooper County WALKER family from Pleasant Green in Bunceton or I guess
it is called Otterville, Missouri. I'm tracking the TUTTS (Henry Tutt &
Charles Tutt) that married into the family and it also looks like
MICHEAL CHISM is connected in same way as well as some others. (There
is also apparently a CHILTON and TUTT connection that I have been unable
to connect... papers of Charles Van Ravenswaay note that the families
are kin!)
I'm interested in the CHISMS cause I think they came from Morgan
County...
my enslaved ancestors were connected to Lot Howard & Elizabeth Chism...
but sorting out the Howards and CHISMS is driving me nuts.
Specifically, I've been tracking the TUTTS and WALKERS which are both
large families. Can anyone shed some light on the WALKERS from Pleasant
Green and how they connect to the Howard CO. Walkers..and can you help
me on the CHISMS too. I also have a brief chronology of the John
Hardeman Walker family but I don't know how to reach the authors nor do
I know the date of the historical profile that was written. But am very
interested in the slaves in these families....
I hav
Hi Cathy and Listers,
Searching for information on Chism family from Augusta or Stafford County Virginia. Possibly 1790-1830.
Franklin Chism was born there in 1807. He migrated to Ohio - made two trips with a brother (name unknown) prior to settling in Fairfield County, Ohio in 1835. In 1838 he married Elizabeth Geiger.
Franklin is my husband's gr.gr.grandfather. Would like to be able to find his parents' names/also names of brothers and sisters.
Their marriage license spells the name Chism. However, his obituary uses the Chisum spelling.
Would appreciate any information I can get!
Thanks so much.

Thanks for the welcome. I am looking for a Chism family from Texas, but have
seen it spelled many ways. The family came from Kentucky in 1871 to Ft. Bend
County, Texas and settled there. The parents were William and Frances Chism.
Their children also settled in the are for a time before moving on. If this
story sounds even vaguely familiar please email me.

Good Morning all,
I am in search of information on the Chisholm family, my great great
grandfather was owned by David Chisholm Jr. of Chester , South Carolina. He
was in Windsor, Florida by 1855 according to the birth of his son Thomas. I
am trying to find information on descendants of this family. These are the
areas that I am searching: Alachua, Ocala, Tampa, Williston , Levy. Also I
would like to make contact with any serious researchers from the Chester,
County South Carolina. I do have a slave list that list fifty slaves that was
on an Estate sale of Suprey Chisholm Jr, in Chester 1834. also I am willing
to share what history that I have found. Thank you for your time.

Hello, I am back again, hopeing someone can help Identify where my Chism's or Chisum originated from?
George Washington Chism was in Tn. 1811 he came to ARk. he married a Elizabeth Caroline Burgess in Lawrence county, Ark. 1833, Nov. 1, second wife was Jane Lankford, May 22, 1836, she was first married to a Charles L. Ross, George Washington Chism's third wife was Jane Knighton. married 30 of May 1840, they had children Elisha born 1841 and Christopher Green in 1844.
On the 1850 census also in the household of George was Elizabeth Knighton
Nancy J. Lady
and a Thomas Brewer.
in Lawrence county, ARk. 1842, Geoge was appointed guardina for minor children heirs of Isacc Newton Knighton/nightons
at the rrequesto of Amon Knighton.
1840 census George Chism
Ammon Knighton married in Mecklenberg county, Kentucky in 1810 , fatehr of Isacc?
Other Chism members were in Lawrence county , Ark. were a Winnie chism, in which I think she was the mother of George Washington Chism, Also a Benjamin Chism in Lawrence and Independence county, Ark.
Also an Elisha Chism who died in intestate 1827, Lawrenc county Ark. bonded was a Winniefred Chisum.
Winnie and Benjamin Chism were also in Izard county, Winnie in 1834, Benjamin in 1850.
Then Winnie shows up on 1840 Overton county, Tn.
Then by 1850 she's back in Randolph county, ARk. age 84, born 1786, born NC. with a son named Russell , who was born in Tn.
Doe's anyone out there know anything about this family? I will gladly share the info I have on this line. Thanks Vickie
Hello, I am going to post this again to see if anyone new to the list may know of these connections?
I find an Elisha Chisum who died in intestate 1827, Lawrence county, Ark. bonded was a Winnie Chisum. Lawrence county, Ark. was a part of Mo. for a while.
Then in 1829 a Benjamin and Winnie Chism were on the Lawrence county, Tax list . Then a Mrs. Winniefred Chisolm was listed as one of nine people in Izard county, Ark. as a Pioneer and Maker of Ark. in 1834.
Then Benjamin Chism and his family were in Izard county, Ark. 1850
Polly, Benjamin, William, Thomas, Winnie, Isham, Henderson, Washington, Elizabeth and one more we think by the name of Elisha.
Winnie Chism moved back to Overton county, Tn. She is widowed and on the 1840 census in Overton county.
Then by 1850 she has moved back to Randolph county, which was once part of Lawrence county, Ark. She was age 84, born North Carolina age 84, she also had a son named Russell.
I believe Winnie may have been a possible second wife of Elisha Jr. Perhaps? This is just a quess, no facts, I was hopeing someone may know of this line.
I also think Benjamin and Elisha the one who was living in Izard in 1860 was a son of this Elisha Jr. There also was a George Washington Chisum living in Randolph county as well in 1860. I think also he may have been a brother.
Doe's anyone outthere know of this connection? I will gladly share the info I have on this line, Thanks Vickie
Hi Antoinette. Yes the book is supposed to be on the way. I had been
searching for it for a long time. Finally ran across his son. Could you
email what the man's first name is? I have to send him a check and his son
didn't tell me and when he talked to me I forgot to ask him. Are you trying
to find the area where your family came from before coming to USA? There are
so many countries of Africa now and they keep changing the names so I can't
keep up with them. I have always wanted to visit there. We had some visitors
from Africa and they cooked some meat over an open fire and that had to be
hottest meat I ever ate. I love to study different cultures. There's always
something to learn that's a better way. Carolyn

Hi Antoinette. I finally found something I think will be helpful to us both.
A Mr. Chism published a book called "the Chisz". He still has a few copies
left and I am purchasing one of them. His Ph. # is 864-654-3487 and his
address is 1027 Berkley Dr., Clemson S. C., 29631. He quoted me the price of
$56.00 postage paid. It is very reasonable I think. I hope this helps you
find your ancestors or at least pinpoint the way. Carolyn Chism.
