Hello list,
I am looking for some elusive relatives and that I have been searching for
them for quite sometime. My Chisholms are African Americans and they were
once owned by David Chisholme Jr, of Chester, South Carolina. I first located
them on an estate sale of Suprey Chisholme in February of 1834, then they
were in Gainesville, Florida by 1855. and they bought 681 acres of land in
1867. I have some administration papers and wedding dates but not much else
to go on. I believe that there were a lot of Chisholms on that land and quite
a few of them related to each other. These are the names who were on the
census for 1870. My great great grand father Edward, nicked name Ned and his
brother Dudley. His brother William was not mentioned on the census.
My great grand father Thomas and great grand mother Sarah. Butler, Bimus,
Samuel, Major, Elsy (female) Napoleon.
My great grand father Tom Chisholm had 15 children, ten by his first wife
Sara and five by his second wife Mary Elizabeth nee Williams. I am searching
for any decendants of this family.
Some of this family migrated to Tampa, Ocala,Plataka, Florida and
Wilmington, Delaware, New York City. I would really like to hear from any one
who might have any information. thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Antoinette Russell (seventh generation Chisholm)
Thank you , very much, I am floating on cloud nine

Last night, I was digging in my data for my Elisha Chisum and a very nice guy named W.L. Chism had sent my a copy of a Chisum family monograph, it led to a deed in Warren county, Kentucky in 1835, Where Ellenor Gillientine Chism wife of John Chisum had made, she named her 8 children in order of age and 11 grandchildren of John Estes and Elizabeth Chisum Estes. My Elisha was one of them, it seems he was born 1746, Amelia county, Va. he married a woman by the last name of Russell, I am assuming this is my Wenny Russell, they were marreid in Union County, South Carolina, I am thinking Wenny may have been his second wife, because Wenny was born in 1766
They have his death in Kentucky, but he died in Ark. it seems my Elisha Chisum was the younger brother of Elijah who married Lucy Clairborne, Elisha shows up in Grainger county, as well in 1799, Tn.
So , I have finally broken through my Brick wall, I just thought I would share this, thanks Vickie

Ok, Here is what showed up on the Spring Creek Church records and I am hopeing someone can fill in the blanks???
Third Saturday of May, 1804, Elijah and Lucy Chism, and Mary Overturf and Elizabeth Chism, recieved by experience Sameal, The Servant of Elijah.
Friday , June 15, 1804, recieved by Elijah Chism and Lucy Chism and Thomas and Mary Gibbons, all by letter, dismissed by letter Wenny Chism.also mentioned Chism slave Sam.
1805 Elijah Chism," Big Sam, the slave, Lucy," Elizabeth Chism.
1806
listed as members of the Church Elijah Chism, Lucye, Big Sam, Mary Green and Elizabeth.
1807, dimissed by letters, Chisms, Lucy, Big Sam, Wiilliam Magby, Nomrod Dodson, Elizabeth Dodson, I think this is Elizabeth Chism? and James Barlett.
I hope someone can help me with this line? This is the Elijah CHism and Lucy Clairborne line? or am I mistaken? Vickie
Hello, recently a fellow did a search for my Chism's and came up with the Spring Creek Baptists Church records of Jackson and Overton county, Tn. Dated the 3rd of September, 1804.
Elijah Chism, Elizabeth, Lucy, and Wenny Chism. it was a list of members of that association and of those who might join.
I am almost certain, this is my family line?
Also somehow someway, this family connects to the Burleson family line? I did a search on ancestry.com for Wenny Chism and it brought their names up on the Burleson Family Association index?
I have thought for a while that Winnie was the Wife of Elijah, she may be the daughter of him.
This family almost has to connect to the John Chisum line and Ellenor Gillentine line? How I don't know yet?
The Green family comes into play as well as the Oaks family?
Henderson Chism son of Benjamin Chism, a son of Elijah or Brother married a Mary E. Oaks in 1866, Lawrence county, Ark.
The Oaks family and Burleson family also connects to this family?
Can anyone shed some light as to who Elijah Chism belongs to? Vickie

8 December 2000
SPECIAL EDITION
----- Free Access to All Ancestry.com Subscriber Databases
through December 21
============================================================
FREE ACCESS TO ALL ANCESTRY.COM SUBSCRIBER DATABASES
============================================================
Here's the opportunity you've been waiting for! Ancestry.com is
offering free access to all of its databases through
December 21. This is your chance to see why more than 270,000
researchers have chosen to subscribe to Ancestry.com in their quest
to discover their family's history.
Included in the offer is access to the images of original census
records that Ancestry.com recently began posting. These top-quality
images represent a more true-to-life depiction of the records and are
in most cases better than the original in readability.
Ancestry.com's Images Online are scanned in 256 shades of gray to
allow for variations in tone, as opposed to the less expensive method
of bi-tonal technologies used by competitors. The entire set of U.S.
Federal Censuses is expected to be online by spring 2001. A year's
access to these images will only cost current Ancestry.com members an
additional $39.95, as opposed to competitive offerings that in recent
interviews quoted impending subscription costs at as much as $99!
In other words, for $99.90 ($59.95 regular subscription + $39.95
Images Online subscription)--which is the price competitors are
charging for census only--Ancestry.com members will get access to the
census Images Online in better form, plus access to all of
Ancestry.com's other offerings. These offerings include such landmark
databases as the "PERiodical Source Index (PERSI)," the Biography and
Genealogical Master Index (BGMI), the American Genealogical-
Biographical Index (AGBI), the 1890 Census Reconstruction Project,
the Civil War Research Database, and Slave Narratives, just to name a
few.
But that's not all. Ancestry.com has been adding databases at a
record-breaking pace and is on target to have more than 1 BILLION
records online by the end of the year.
Recent additions include:
--- "The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620-33"
(see a sample entry at:
http://www.ancestry.com/library/view/news/articles/2071.asp)
--- The New York City police census of 1890
--- 1910 Miracode indexes for Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Virginia
--- Statewide vital records indexes for a growing number of states
--- New York's naturalization petition index of 1907-24
--- Iowa cemeteries
--- And much more!
Now for a limited time, new members of Ancestry.com will get $10 off
the price of an annual data subscription, giving you a year's access
to the No. 1 genealogical site on the Internet for only $49.95. And
as an added bonus, we'll include a FREE Ancestry Reference Library
CD-ROM (a $49.95 value itself!), which includes 15 genealogy
reference books to help you research like a pro!
We're confident that once you have gotten a taste, you won't want to
be without continuous access to our site!
