Hello Traci,
In your post I've noticed we have some of the same interests. My interest began with Jacob Chism and John Abbott preaching to the hardshell Baptists in Miller Co., MO in the 1830's. I'm stuck on John, so I've spent alot of time learning the Baptist history and that has led me back to Jacob, again, but still not yet Abbott. Recently my info on Jacob has expanded to include Morgan Co., MO. I did not know, until now, his church in Morgan. I did not know of the assoc. w/ Mt. Nebo, except for the Nebo assoc. w/ Mt. Pleasant. Pleasant was formed from Jacob and members of Mt. Pisgah of Cooper Co..
Most of your links in your post are dead and at your website, also.
I'm very interested in the minutes of the Big Rock church. I'm looking for the dates formed, if an Abbott is mentioned, when the minutes or church stop and maybe some other stuff.
I'd like to know when Jacob died.
I've made several copies of pages from minutes of the Pisgah and I've access to most of the minutes. I visit the Missouri State Archives, regularly, and sometimes the Missouri State Historical Society. I would look up things of interest.
I've found some notes of the selling of slaves and the problems that arose in the Baptist churches of the Missouri area in the 1827-1837 time period.
I've also found land entries of Morgan Co. and several Chism's in 1833 and 1835.
Please reply and anyone else that is interested or has knowledge of the subjects!
