I'm still trying to find any information on my great-grandmother Donnie Chism. She was born in 1882 and was an orphan half-breed Cherokee Indian. On the census she is listed as being born in Missouri, her father born in Missouri, and her mother was born in Texas. I'm assuming these are her adoptive parents. She married Paul Baker gave birth to my grandfather Cecil Owen Baker in Otero Colorado in 1903; Vivian Baker in 1903 (they were twins); Pearl Baker in 1906; Howard in 1913; Nadine in 1916; Lucille in 1917. All were born in Junta Colorado.
My GGrandma Donnie and my GGrandpa Paul, along with my Grandpa Cecil and Grandma Vera (Earnhardt) Baker lived in Prescott Arizona in the 30's and worked in the Mines. All except my Grandma Vera died in Prescott.
Does anyone have any information on Donnie Chism? I can't find any adoption information and I've checked with the Dawes Commission to see if she was ever registered as being Cherokee decent.
Thanks for your help!
Kathy
