Hi,
there were a lot of Chisholms in Marion County most of them were African Americans they went there to work on the horse farms. They were in Gainesville area first but originally came from Chester, South Carolina. Hope this will help you.

Hi...
I am trying to locate Tolbert (Feb 1887 - Dec 1959)and Martha (Chisholm,
Chism) Hodges(Oct 1887 - Mar 1933) in the 1920 Marion County, FL
Census....I have been trying to locate them but I am having no luck....I
am assuming that they are in Marion Co, since a number of their children
were born in Marion Co, FL....and also I found his WW1 Civilian Draft
Registration and it also was in Marion County....I have tried a variety
of ways of spelling the last name of Hodges but I am having no luck....I
do know they were in Citrus Co, Fl in 1910 census and in 1930 census
they were in Polk Co, FL....These are the names of their children,
Shepherd Franklin, Julian Thomas, Ann Marie, John Ira, William Woodrow,
Myrtle, Tolbert Jr and Ruth.....
I would appreciate any help.....thank you....

Dear List,
We will be having our first Chisholm Family Reunion July 30-August 1, 2004,I am truly excited that we have finally located enough decendants to come together full circle. Our Chisholms are African Americans and they migrated from Chester, South Carolina through slavery to Gainesville,Florida. They lived in the Newnans lake area and Marion county areas as well.
We are inviting all descendants to attend . For more information Please contact: Antoinette Russell email Zkai(a)aol.com
