Hi...
I am researching the Chism family and I have discovered that I have
quite a few Chism/Chisholm names in my family tree.....
I have Robert Newton Chism (1861-1916 in Charlton Co, GA) who married
Martha Hodges.
Also have a George Washington Chisholm (1860 -1931 Charlton Co, GA) who
married a Eliminia Yarbrough....
If anyone can help me with more information on the above
families...would appreciate it.....
Thank you....
Stephanie Grohol

Janie, I picked up this message tonight and was wondering about James Franklin Chism, your great great grandfather.
I have a grandfather whose name was John Franklin . Sometimes these two names are used interchangeably,
John and James.
I have been trying to find information on my fathers side, and have been very unsuccessful. All I know is, my grandfather was James Franklin Chisholm [ whose name was Chism and later changed to Chisholm]
John was born in Tenn. Married Nancy Elizabeth Newland, who was born in Kansas.
My father was Leslie Paul Chisholm and was an agent/telegrapher with the railroads. Leslie was born in Roundrock, Texas.
I know I am clutching at straws but thought I would send a note your way to see if by chance there would be any connection.
My name is Cheryl Chisholm Ellison
and would appreciate any information that might show a connection

Subject: {not a subscriber} Clive Chism (b. 8-27-1902) married Edward Lovick
Pierce (1893-1944)
> My great grandfather's younger brother, Edward Lovick Pierce married
> Miss Clive Chism. She was born Aug 27, 1902.
>
> Edward Lovick Pierce was a soldier in WWI. They likely met and married
after he returned from overseas. He was born March 1, 1893, son of Rev.
Thomas Roberts Pierce and Sarah Elizabeth Snyder.
>
> I would like to hear from anyone researching Chisms who may have come
across Clive Chism or possibly her parents. I wish I had more information to
go on. Perhaps I will post again later once I have located more records.
>
> Incidentally, I found a brief biographical sketch in Seymour Connor's "The
Peters Colony of Texas" of a Mr. Pleasant G. Chisum who came to the colony
prior to 1848 as a single man. The sketch didn't mention from where he
migrated. The reason I found this person Pleasant G. Chisum of interest is
that Edward's maternal grandfather John Snyder and Edward Willburn -- father
and grandfather of the above-mentioned Sarah Elizabeth Snyder Pierce -- were
also settlers in the Peters Colony.
