Lovice,
my greatgrandparents were Robert and Mary Ann Stewart.
I have more information on Mary Ann. How far back do you go on her? I live in Charlotte, AR which is just north of Batesville, AR. Where do you live? You can email me anytime at zingy25(a)yahoo.com. I can copy my information and send it to you. I looked at cemeteries on www.rootsweb.com~cemetery.com/ and look at jamestown cemetery. Any further help I can be let me know. And you might have information that I need. Thanks, Virginia

Hi Ginny:
What I have found on LeRoy is that he was married to a woman by the name of Ann H. (don't know what the "H" stands for). They (she) had three older daughters, which I believe are her's from another marriage. The reason that I beleive this is that my ancestor Andrew Jackson Chisam (LeRoy's son) was the last child. Ann was older than LeRoy and she would have been too old to have given birth to Andrew. So my feeling is that LeRoy's wife died and he married Ann, possibly because she was a widow with three young girls. All this is just suppostion on my part. I haven't found any information to support my theory. Your "Myrtle" is the first time I have come across this information.
Do you know anything else about the Chisam's?
I have serously considered hiring a researcher to find out more about LeRoy. He has been so elusive. I do think that he is buried in the Jamestown cemetery. It is a small, run down cemetry. The headstones have all fallen over, and because they were made of sandstone and over the years the information has desinagrated. I do know that they found the name "Chisam" on one--so I am supposing that it is LeRoy, or possibly it is Ann's.
On my other research I have eventually got past the "brick wall," but with LeRoy I have been searching on and off for years with no success.
Who are your grandparent's or g-grandparent? Do they happen to be Robert L. and Mary Ann Stewart Chisam?
Where do you live?
Keep in touch.
Lovice Mackay

Hello, Clyde had a daughter named Mildred. I am her middle daughter, Virginia (everyone calls me Ginny). So far, Leroy is as far back as I have found also. I have also been looking for information on his wife's, Myrtle, mom's side. Her mom' name was Belle V. Stracener, she married Ira Platt. Good luck searching. Keep me posted.

Hi:
I got notification of posting on Ancestry regarding Clyde Chisam, who is a brother to my father, Henry. I have some had difficulty researching this line. I have only been able to get back to my g-grandfather, LeRoy. I do feel like there is
some connection to whoever the Chisholm Trail was named for but have not been able to make the connection.
Where are you in you genealogical research?
Would love to hear from you.

Hello to Debby and Evelyn, I found William R Chism in the 1850 census for lauderdale county tennessee. He is HOH and listed as the oldest child is a James W Chism (17yrs.) who I believe is the father of Jesse Ledbetter Chism the reverend. Marriage records show that James W. Chism married a Mary Ledbetter Lockard on April 17,1853 in Ripley Lauderdale Co. TN. and together they had one Son Jesse Ledbetter Chism. They are listed as a family in the 1860 Census for Lauderdale county. The woman listed as married to William R Chism on the 1850 Census name is "Elaline" however I believe she must be a 2nd wife to William R. because she is too young to be James W. 's mother, and also too young to be the mother of the twins listed in the household a John S. Chism and a Moses B. Chism who are age 16 yrs. Also Living 3 doors down on the 1850 Census is William R. Chism's brother Henry F. Chism and his family. Henry named one of his sons William R. after his brother I suppose because that c!
hild is listed as (2-3 yrs.)of age in 1850. So when I began searching for Henry F. and William R. brothers I found that they were born to Elijah M Chism and Jemima Redden. Elijah M Chism has a twin sister named Elisha Chism and they were born to Blind John Chisholm and Sarah Harris. So far that is all I have got. Blind JOHN's parents I am unsure of because there are so many conflicting reports, I have found his father listed as a David Chisholme and a James Chisholme ans his mother listed as a Barbara ANN ESTES and also ANN UNKNOWN, so I am stiil checking into that one.----------------Bonita
