James Dewey Chism, 80, of Greenwood went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, Nov. 8, 2004. He was retired from Lockheed Aircraft Co. and a veteran of the Navy and World War II. He was very proud of his travels and service during his time in the Navy, and loved telling stories about all his life experiences. He was a hard-working man and loved to work with his hands. He could build and fix anything he set his mind to. Those who knew him well will remember him for his orneriness and stubborness. He was very strong-willed and independent. We will remember his laugh, his sense of humor, and his generosity. Most of all, we will remember his genuine love for the Lord. He was a member of City Harvest Pentecostal Church in Greenwood. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Maybella Chism. He is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Phelan of Greenwood; one grandson, Justin Chisum of Fort Smith; and one granddaughter, Christy LaBonne of Greenwood. Burial!
will be at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding."--Proverbs 3:5
