Hi cheryl,
I saw your email on the Chism rootsweb, my family was owned by the Chisholm family, It has been said that they were part Indian, I don't know for sure but I think that they were also mixed with the white chisholm blood:) I have a list of the slaves if you are interested. I also have the book that John chisholm wrote. If you are interested in the information that I have drop me a line.
Thank You, I am very much interested in the names of the slaves. Any help that you could give me is greatly appreciated. Thanks again Cheryl. I saw a copy of the book and many of my ancestors names mirror the names of the Chism slave owners, so I do believe that there is a connection.

I am also a Chism with roots in Arkansas. My family migrated from Hardeman and Jackson counties in Tennessee to Arkansas in the early part of the 20th century, settling around Forrest City Ark. I am an African-American / Native American Chism. I have seen a copy of the book on the history of the Chism family. The Chisms held slaves and many of my ancestors share the same names as Chisms in the book, so I think there may be a connection. Were your Chisms mixed with Creek or Choctaw Indians? To get to the point Here is what I have seen about locating the book. This message was posted on rootsweb Aug 5, 2000. for copies of the book write to John Chism, 1027 Berkley Drive, Clemson South Carolina 29631. I hope this can be of help. any info you can share would be greatlly apprieciated Cheryl
