Dear List Owner:
Please pass on to your listers that a new website was started two months ago
for the Youngstown, Ohio, area. It contains birth, marriage, death, and
other genealogical records for Youngstown. It is free. If your listers had
someone passing thru Youngstown, they may want to look or even contribute
material.

The Adam I listed is the Jocobite immigrant mentioned in John D. Chism's book. The info on him was found on the Scot's origins web page. It is from original records in Scotland.
Adam Chisholm christened December 29, 1692, father, Walter, Yarrow registration district, Old Parish Records. No mother listed.
There is also listed:
William, 1700, Andrew 1710, and David 1716, with father Walter.
Walter Chisholme, Old Parochial Register, January 3, 1669, Parish of Edinburg, father Walter, mother Jean Wallace. (There are witnesses but I can't read them)
Jean Wallace, OPR, May 27, 1642, father John wallace, mother Bessie Chalmers, Parish of Edinburg.
Since Adam's birth has been estimated as 1695 and he had a son Walter, this seems a reasonable connection.
I do have the Chism book. My ancestor Robert and wife Anna Beaver are listed but no info on them.
John's book states that David, s/o Adam lived and died in VA and it was David Jr. that went to SC. I don't know if this is correct or not.
I should have change the spelling to Chisholm/Chisholme when I got back to Blind John in my last post.
Hope this helps someone.
Freda
Ms.Daniels,
I read your post on your Chism line and I was wondering what relationship
are the two Walters to Adam the Jacobite. I have a book written by John
D.Chism, and he had the progenitor of the Chisholme/Chism family line as
Adam. I looked for Luvenia Joanna Chism and the Kilgo's but there were no
reference to them. If there is anything else that you would like to have
checked please let me know.
Sincerely,
Antoinette
PS, David Chisholme, Jr. moved to Chester, South Carolina around 1809-10, and
his brother Thomas Chisholme and his family followed as did his second cousin
Suprey who married two of his daughters. Will send dates if you need them.
Deborah,
Give your father our best. You take care of yourself and your family.
We'll still be here.
Hope he has a quick recovery.

I would certainly like to see the documentation you have for the birthdate
of Adam Chisholme and the three forebears you have listed. I hope that you
will share with me as I have been living with a Chism woman for almost 53
years and am greatly interested in her background.

The Chism line married into my Roberts line. I am unsure yet where my
Chism line was at but know where my Roberts were.
George Roberts II
+spouse unknown
Amelia Roberts 1782-1855
+Isham Chism 1755-1829
Rhoda Chism 1808
+John Walling 1804
Ann Chism 1815
+Jesse Walling 1794 (He was in Texico at the time of the Alamo)
He was a Col in the militia that fought Santa Ana after he
killed all the men at the Alamo.
My Roberts line were in Va and took the Alabama a while then Mississippi
then La. and then Tx and on to Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Thanks for answering Deah! I don't know if anyone will want to do this
but I will start.
It will embarrassing because I don't have much in my own line! I wanted
to get in touch with the ones who have ALOT!
(1)Jesse Chism born 1822 reportedly in Overton Co., Tenn.
died 1898 in McLean Co. Illinois
m. Artimza Brown in 1849 in Ill., b. about
1831-- dau. of Zachariah & Elizabeth (Jones) Brown--all of the above
were reportedly born in Tennessee and
definitely were buried in Woodford Co.
Illinois, or McLean Co. Ill.
Jesse and Artimza had three living children:
(2) Merrit Chism, born March 25, 1952 in
Ill., died McLean Co., Ill. 1931

22, 1858 in Ill, dau of Wm. & Elizabeth (Brown)Robinson, America died

Merrit and America had the
following children:
(3) Walter P. Chism born Oct 3,
1875
(3)Frank W. born Nov. 14, 1876
(3)Lizzie born Feb. 9, 1878
(3)Edith M. born Feb. 14, 1879
(3)Jesse G. born Nov. 5, 1880 , d.

(3)Stella J. b. May 22, 1892
(3)Mattie A. b. Jan 1, 1895
(3)Rolla I. b. Jan 27, 1897
(I didn't bother to
record deaths or some of the births of some of the above --I know the
dates of most of them. My father Ralph Chism is still living at age 92.
(2) Amelia Chism b. in Ill. & who married
John J. Riley
(3)Lily Riley Williamson
(2)Perry Chism m. Louelda Brandenburg
(3) dau. unknown
Very many of the above were buried in East White Oak Cemetery in Woodford
Co., Illinois, near Bloomington, Ill., which is in McLean Co.
I have not been able to find Jesse in Overton Co., Tenn., or anywhere in
Tenn. From Bio. notes for his son, Merrit, Jesse's father was John Chism
from Tennessee who died about 1839 in Tennessee, siblings of Jesse were
John, James, Richard, and Nancy.
This unverifiable also stated John & James disappeared during the Civil
War, Nancy stayed in Tenn. & married, and Richard remained in touch with
Jesse but it doesn't say where he ended up living. The name of Jesse's
mother was not mentioned in that account.

I have two questions for our List Manager and other Chism List members:
Does anyone researching on this Chism List belong to the Chism Family
Association?
and,
Would a "roll call" be helpful to anyone, if approved of?
This means anyone who frequently uses or checks in on the list could give
their family tree, as far as they know ---with the names of their Chisms,
and perhaps some dates, and areas of the world where their Chisms
lived...
I am on several surname lists and one of them did this. I thought it was
helpful. It seemed to open up some discussion of various members of the
families and exchange of family lines.

I myself am not familiar with the Association, but maybe some of our
listers can help. Can anyone shed some light on the Association?
And anytime any of you feel a roll call would be helpful, I certainly am
most willing to grant it. Roll away!!

A while back a fellow by the last name of Breedlove posted some information
about the Chief of the Cherokees.
I had a lady to do some looking for me, and she found out that Ignatious
Chisolme and his brother Dennis Chisholme in Lawrence county, Ark. 1818,
they were listed in the deed books, I wanted to pass this along to him, if
anyone has his email, could they forward it to me? I would appreciate it,

Good Evening list,
I am in search of some very elusive family members, my grandfather was born
in Chester, South Carolina and he and his two brothers William and Dudley
were slaves of David Chisholme. I have some slave information, but I'd like
to find living relatives of these families:
Prymus Chisholm, his wife was Sara Patrick and their children were:
James
Edward "Ned"Chisholm, he married Livinia Hicks
Sarah
Dudley Jr.
Mary E., I think that Mary and James may have lived in Levy County, Florida
Clarence Chisholm, I don't know if he had children. Clarence lived in
Plataka, wife's name was Ida He died in 1926
Rev. Henry F.Chisholm he was married to Agnes J. Robinson, he did in Palataka
in 1915
Gladys Chisholm was raised by her aunt Delilah Brown in Tampa , she married
and lived in Atlantic City. I don't know her maiden name. But she has
children from what I have been told
Bessie Robinson, her husband was Patrick Robinson
Rosa Ausley
Cora Asherrs
Violet Anglin , her husband was Ruben, Sr.
Ruben anglin Jr .
If anyone has any information on this family , Please contact me.
Thank you in advance.
Antoinette
