Dear Chisholm /Chism Researchers,
I am writing to ask a favor of all of those Chisholms/Chisms who are
researching the family of Adam Chisholm of Virginia,if they would be so kind
as to keep an eye out for any slave information while they are doing their
research, I have been researching Ned Chisholm who was owned by David
Chisholm Jr., and then to his brother Thomas and then to their cousin Suprey
Chisholm, I have some information but not to much. these Chisholmes lived in
Rocky Creek, Chester County South Carolina. Many of you are looking for their
relatives in Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi and some who went to Missouri. I
am also looking for the bible of Thomas Chisholme , I saw that it was
supposed to be a copy in the Alan County Library, but they didn't have it
when I contacted them. So If any one has any information I would appreciate
if you would share it with me. and Iwould be happy to share what I have.
thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Antoinette Russell

Chism list,
Thanks to those of you who responded
regarding my request for information on the
book "The Chisz". The book is printed on
acid free paper and is quite sizable I
understand. Having bought several books in
the past that cost more and probably
contained much less information, this sounds
like quite a deal to me.
I just spoke with Mr. Chism this evening. I
asked him if I could post the info on his
book to the list & he granted permission. He
has 37 copies (after I buy 3) of the book
left. The price is $56 for a single copy &
he will discount multiple copy purchases.

Having been involved in looking for out of
print books in the past, my advice is buy
now. You can always donate it to the local
genealogy library!
As I mentioned previously, "The Chisz: A
History of the
Chisholme/Chism Family" by John D. Chism is
only held by three libraries as far as I can
tell:
New York Public Library,
Allen
County Public Library in Fort Wayne, IN and
the Library of Congress.
Thanks for your help in locating this book
and the source. Having poked around for
several years with little success I can thank
this list and those who so kindly helped me
for successfully finding my wife's ancestors.

Good afternoon,
I am still searching for information on Edward Ned Chisholm born Chester,
county South Carolina in 1814, He had a two brothers and a sister that I know
of, William and Dudley and sister Hannah. Their mother was Bridget and she
also was owned by David Chisholme Jr. and passed on to his brother Thomas and
then to their cousin Suprey Chisholm. In 1867 Ned and his brothers brought
land in Gainesville, Florida for 30,000 pounds of sea island cotton. I am
trying to find slave information and also information after they were free. I
know that there are a lot of people researching the Chism Family, I would be
more than thankful if any one researching this family would share the
information with me, and I would be more than happy to share what I know.
Thank you in advance.
Antoinette
PS, Looking for Chisms in Chester, South Carolina and Gainesville, Ocala,
Tampa Florida.
Hello, I recently found a Mrs. Winniefred Chisolm in Izard county, Ark. on ancestry.com database. She was one of the Pioneers and Makers of Ark. page 160.
Then in 1827, Oct. 30, and Elijah Chisolm died in intestate, bonded was Winniefred Chisolm, excutrix.
I think she is connected to our family in Izard county, ark.? Doe's anyone out there happen to know anything about this family? Like who she belongs to. She is in Lawrence county, on the census with a son named Russell. Winniefred Chisolm was age 64, born North Carolina.
Thanks Vickie

Question for list members.
I asked a library to look into a borrowing a
copy of The Chisz. Received the following
reply:
"The Chisz: A History of the
Chisholme/Chism Family" by John D. Chism.
This book is only held by three libraries as
far as I
can tell: New York Public Library, Allen
County Public Library in Fort Wayne, IN and
the Library of
Congress. New York Public and the Library of
Congress do not lend items through
interlibrary
loan. The Allen County Public Library is also
unable to send us the book.
Books in Print has no entry for this work,
indicating that it is no longer in
publication. I next
consulted a few online out-of-print
booksellers/finders. They also came up with
nothing."
Can anyone tell me where I can purchase a
copy of this book? I am told it has my
wife's line to her grandfather in Tuscaloosa
Co., AL and would very much like to obtain a
copy. Please reply to the list as others may
be interested.
Thanks,
Tom Land
