Dear List:
I am searching for information about my great great great grandmother a
slave by the name of Bridget who belonged to David Chisholme Jr. originally
from Lousia County, Virginia. He was the son of David Chisholme Sr, and the
grandson of Adam the Jacobite. Around 1805, David, jr. took his slaves and
moved to Chester, County, South Carolina. My great great great grand mother
had, as far as I know three sons, William he was born around 1805-1810, Ned
(my great great grandfather was born in 1814, a daughter named Hanna and a
son by the name of Dudley. After the death of David they were passed on to
brother Thomas Chisholm and then to their cousin Suprey Chisholm. My
relatives were listed on the estate sale of Suprey Chisholm February 2, 1834.
My family was next found in Gainesville, Florida on the 1870 census. If
anyone on the list that is related to the slave owing family and may come
across slave information while doing your research please share that
information with me. I would really appreciate that. Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Antoinette

There were 2 Chism on the Miller Cherokee Roll (Rejected). I did not
check the accepted roll. They were Bill (21542), and Ed (39850), both
from GA.
There is a new academic study of the roll talking about how applicants
were accepted, rejected, description of the roll, results of emigration,
etc. The table of contents of the roll is at
http://members.aol.com/rarebk
The site also has a number of Indian genealogical sources, such as the
1835 Cherokee census (posted on-line, inside a Cherokee Genealogy
Tutorial which is a great primer on how to do effective Indian genealogy
research), other indexes, and a Native American CD which appears to
contain huge amounts of Native American genealogical material. Very
fascinating.

Searching for information on Franklin Chism, born November 7, 1807 in either Augusta or Stafford Co., Virginia. His first name might possibly have been John. He made two trips to Ohio with a brother (name unk.)before settling there in 1835 in Fairfield County. In 1838, he married Elizabeth Geiger. Known children: David Eli, Cecelia(or Selina?)Elizabeth, George Manville, Meredith Darlington Brock, Franklin Harbert, James A. There might possibly have been a daughter named Mary amd two other children.
Census information lists Franklin's birthplace as "Virginia", with no county name. He was my husband's greatgreatgrandfather, and has proved to be our "brick wall" as far as research on the Chism surname goes.
Does anyone have any suggestions???
Thank you.

Hello, I didn't know if everyone had a chance to view this homepage of Kay Kenmoore. She and others have compiled alot of Chism info that pertains to her family and ours , along with other Chism family members as well. It also has some of the family members that belong to the Obediah Chism family line. The url for her homepage is http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~keuttah/chism.htm This homepage contains various marriages of Chism , census records along with some cementary listings and those who are buried in them. It has alot of info on most of the Chism and Chisholm families in Izard and all of the surrounding counties. Kay has spent alot of time of this page and for those looking for certain relatives you just may find a connection. Vickie
I don't think it's your computer.

I'm very sorry, I posted a query about Benjamin Chism, thinking he was the son of Nathan Breed Chism? And I was wrong.
I meant Benjamin Chism was the son of James Chism and Pheobe Breed. Benjamin was born 1804 and I believe he died in 1844.
Doe's anyone have a connection to this Benjamin? Vickie
I made a mistake, I was posting Nathan Chism, When it should have been James Chism and his wife Pheobe Breed, they had a son named Benjamin that was born 1804, May 14, birthplace unknown.
I was wondering in anyone had info on him? Vickie
Hello, Doe's anyone out there have info on one of Nanthan Breed Chism's children? A Benjamin born 1804, Mo. If I remember correctly this family went to Mo. Morgan or Camden county? Thanks Vickie
