Ok, here's my big brick wall. My gr gr grandfather was Thomas Dinwiddie Chisham. He was born in Kentucky in 1812, possibly Jessamine county.
In 1834, he married Julia Ann Stribling in Franklin county, Kentucky. At the time of their marriage, information in Julia's bio states that Thomas was from Indiana.
I do not know who his mother and father was, only that his maternal Grandfather was Thomas Dinwiddie. This information comes from Julia's bio, and from bits of what is left of Thomas Dinwiddie's will.
It is said that at one time our Chisham name was spelled Chisholm. Also on at least one census, and in one church record of membership, it was spelled Chism.
Has anyone by chance run across a Chisham/Chism/Chisholm, that tied into any Dinwiddie's or Striblings?
Thanks,
Deah
A Happy Thanksgiving to you all and may God bless each and everyone and
all their families. This land is truly a great one and we have been
blessed abundantly from the Pilgrims to this electronic age of the
internet. How fortunate we are! Don and Jean in
CA.
Hello gang,
I want to take a minute to thank you for your good behavior. :O) Due to recent events, many lists have had problems with politically oriented messages. This list is NOT the place to air politics, and I thank you all for not using the list in this way. Congrats to you all.
Other no-no's would be spamming, flaming, and subjects that are waaaaaay off topic. There are also some guidelines set down by RootsWeb regarding lists. If you're not sure what they are, or have other questions regarding lists, you might want to read up on them at:
http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/help/mail5.html
I want the list to have a homey feel, so there are some things that I will allow. Since we are going in to the holiday season, one thing you can post, is favorite family recipes. This is perfectly acceptable to me, as it reflects a little more on your families, and what they liked.
Also, posting family traditions is welcomed. More insight yet into the families. There are many aspects to families in addition to hard facts and data.
One more thing that I will gladly allow, is any prayer requests that any of you might have. A part of family, whether genetic, a list family, or a family of the heart, is support and encouragement.
You all have been great, and not once have I had to reprimand a single one of you. That's a pretty good thing! :O)
And so that's about it from the "bossy" list mom,......chuckle. Now back to just being me!
Happy Thanksgiving,
Deah
