Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Who made it possible for RootsWeb to double the number of genealogy
mailing lists in just the past year, so genealogists now have access
to almost 5,000 lists through which they exchange about 120,000,000
messages each month? Who made it possible for genealogists to connect
with 568,617 families being researched by more than 85,000 fellow
genealogists through the RootsWeb Surname List? Who made it possible
for the USGenWeb Archives and other projects to bring more than a
gigabyte of data (that's the equivalent of more than 10,000,000 vital
records) online, data that genealogists access more than 1,000,000
times each month? And who made it possible for all these resources to
be made freely, yes FREELY, accessible to all genealogists?
YOU DID. And you can make all these resources and new tools, like census
records, city directories, and other genealogical resources
available FREELY to genealogists this year. For less than cost of
mailing just a few letters each month.
By contributing $50 or more to RootsWeb last year, you helped
make all of that possible. On behalf of the genealogical community
we would like to thank you for your support, and we hope that you
stay with us for another year and support our commitment to keep
genealogical data free on the Internet.
This year, with your support, RootsWeb intends to continue adding
new free resources for all genealogists and new tools and benefits
specifically for our contributors. What we achieve will be governed by
how many folks choose to support RootsWeb, but this year we hope to
make significant progress in bringing new resources online like:
o US Census records
o British birth/death/marriage records
o City directories
o County histories
Your support is critical to our progress! Please consider renewing
your contribution. To do so, you can use RootsWeb's secure server to
renew over the Web by visiting:

Or you can mail your contribution to
RootsWeb Genealogical Data Cooperative
P.O. Box 6798

AN IMPORTANT NOTE: Because e-mail addresses change and because
RootsWeb has never had the resources to develop a formal membership
database, it is possible that you received this note but you already
had renewed. If that has happened, please accept our
sincere apologies and drop us a note at <sponsors(a)rootsweb.com>.
We'll be happy to correct our records.
Also, very recent contributions aren't yet logged in. If you've
recently contributed, but received this letter, and haven't received
an acknowledgement, please be patient. Though if you don't hear
anything within a week or two, write and ask "What happened!?!"
And thank you again for your support!
