Janet Chisholm Klenk
MANSFIELD: Janet Chisholm Klenk, age 93 of Cleveland, Ohio and recently of Mansfield, Ohio passed away Monday morning, July 14, 2014 in Ohio Health Med Central Mansfield Hospital.
She was born March 30, 1921 in Cleveland Heights, the daughter of Stanley and Ruth (Black) Chisholm and was graduated from Cleveland Heights High School.
On December 28, 1942 she married Kenneth John Klenk, who preceded her in death in 1962.
Janet worked as a secretary in the Warrensville Heights City School System for over 30 years, and also as a part-time school nurse after her retirement. There, she formed very close friends with several ladies. The group upheld their monthly social gatherings religiously, and Janet was pleased to attend until very recently. She loved to try different restaurants.
Independent and confident, Janet lived in her home in Lyndhurst, Ohio, only moving to Primrose of Mansfield in the past six years. She made many friends there.
Athletic, Janet played high school tennis, participated in several bowling leagues, and liked golf. She loved her Ohio State Buckeyes, and the distance between Mansfield and Cleveland couldn't keep her away from supporting her grandchildren in their sporting events. Janet also had a great love for dogs.
Janet is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law: James and Robin Klenk of Mansfield and Terry Klenk of Gainesville, Florida; three grandchildren: Shane, Morgan and Mackenzie Klenk; a sister: Betty Byrne of Columbia, South Carolina; and two nephews and their spouses: Bill and Judy Byrne of Portland, Oregon, and Bob and Chris Byrne of Aiken, Georgia; grand nephews: Michael and Steven Byrne; along with many cherished friends.
Although no public service will be held in Janet's memory, her family hopes that you will hold her in your heart as you remember her in your own special way.
A private graveside service will be held in Lake View Cemetery, Cleveland, Ohio at noon on July 21, 2014. Janet's nephew, The Rev. Bob Byrne will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Janet may be made to the Clear Fork Athletic Boosters, P.O. Box 657, Bellville, Ohio 44813.
The Bellville Snyder Funeral Home is pleased to assist the Klenk family. Messages to their family may be made by visiting: www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
