I, too, am interested in Murdock Chisholm desendants. I have seen databases that have him listed as the grandfather, through his son Malcolm, of my ggg-grandfather John Chisholm that married Elizabeth Birt (Burt) in 1816 in Amite County, Mississippi. But I have not found any proof of this. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Kathy
The 1764 marriage of Thomas Chisholm son ov the Rev Thomas Chisholm of Kilmorack is recorded in the Old Parish Register, thats why it is considered to be definitive.Might be able to find a copy and send it to you if you wished. The identification of John Chisholm son of Rev Thomas Chisholm of Kilmorack, comes from a "Chisholm Writ" that is a legal deed executed at the time.
The appearance of Thomas Chisolm in Georgia only in the early 1770's may be accounted for by considering that he was living and working prior to that in old Beaufort County ,South Carolina. I believe I found several of the people with whom he is associated with in Georgia, also to have had an earlier time in South Carolina

Hi Kathy,
The 1764 marriage of Thomas Chisholm to Anne Maclean may have been in Kintail rather than Kilmorack, Alistair could confirm that.
To my knowledge there are no birth records of the John and Thomas Chis-olm found in SC and GA in the later 1700's, but there are strong suspicions about them. The suspicions do have them as brothers( and DNA evidence would be consistent there), and would have their birth years as very similar to the brothers of the same name, but these two would be born in Virginia rather than Inverness.
Also contemporaneous is a Thomas Chisholm who sailed from London to Jamaica in 1759. A Thomas Chisholm of Kingston, may be that same person, died in Jamaica in 1804, and left a will, and left four children. This Thomas of Kingston did have relations in Inverness, but not connected to the Teawig family of Reverend Thomas.
As always, the search in Britain goes on for signs of these two Teawig Chisholms, (and any others, as Thomas and John were the younger of several boys) Hopefully research also continues in America to track down the origins of the Savannah pair of John and Thomas Chisolm.Quite a good amount of info has been dug up on John, who had a plantation near the area where Interstate 95 crosses the river. This research is held on the Chisholm forum, where one of John's descendant's has been discussing the topic.Forum address is:

Kathy,
The sons of Rev Thomas Chisholm;
Thomas was born December 1730, he married Ann MacLean in Kilmorack, Invernessshire in Feb 1764... date of death unknown.
John was born June 1727, he married Isobel Chisholm some time before 1754 - they lived in Easter Knockfin... date of death unknown.
Regarding the John and Thomas found in S. Carolina and Georgia I do not have their details at my fingertips but I suspect that others watching this thread might be able to help you there.
Regards,
Alastair

I am interested in Murdock Chishom and Flora MacPherson- do you have any sources on this info? I am from Malcolm's line (brother of Angus). I believe Angus was married to a Sally Myrick Harris.

Daniel Richard Denny Cheezum was born in Caroline County, MD in 1826. He married Margaret Adams Ball Will on Ocboer 5, 1848 beform relocating to Austin, TX in 1857. He was a merchant of glassware, cutlery and other housewares. He joined the 14th Texas Field Artillery (Abat's Battery, later Dashiell's Texas Horse Cavalry). The battery consisted of four six pound cannon and spent most of its time in Texas and the Indian Territory. Family lore indicates that during the war, the family lived "at the foot of ninety acre rock (now called Enchanted Rock) ten miles north of Fredericksburg." This was probably for protection against the Comanches, as they and the German settlers of the area had an unbroken treaty. DRD Cheezum was mustered out of the service as a Quartermaster Sergeant and was paroled by Wesley Merrit (Major General USA). He later went up on a cattle drive and eventually returned to Easton, MD. He died there on April 28, 1900 and is buried in Springhill Cemeta!
ry. My father had a tombstone placed on his gravesite. His name is also on the Monument Confederate Soldiers of Talbot County located in front of the Talbot County Courthouse. Hope this helps.

Hello, I'm just starting to research the family of William A. A. Chisholm and was wondering if you were able to determine who his parents were. I have seen info that his father was Hugh MacDonald Chisholm from New Madrid, MO, but can't find any verfication yet. Thanks, Linda

W. L., I certainly enjoyed your ideas of John Sr. and Elijah being brothers. I have not been able to find any information on John Sr. except a number of land purchases and sales, one of which was the sale of a "plantation" in Panola Co. in Mississippi (very early on if I remember correctly). And of course his burial in Lauderdale Co. with the other members of his family.
I have been unable to verify the location of John W.'s burial in Grayson Co., although I am sure he is here (I live in Grayson Co.). His wife Ann Eliza is buried in the Hall Cemetery near where I live. But John W. is not there as far as I can determine. I will recheck the library records and revisit the cemetery.
If you run across the record where you found Walker to be the middle name of John, please let me know. I have just always thought it was William, but I am not sure why I have had that impression.
Bettye Lynn
