My name is Nancy Means, my email is meansleigh(a)gmail.com. My mother is Mari Maher. We have researched our family history and have found that the Chisums are in our history. Four generations back on her side is where Clairborne and Lucinda came into our line.
We are seeking more knowledge and information in referance to this family line. James S. Chisum and Elizabeth Gibbons is as far back as we have searched. If you have more info we are definately interested in exchanging what we have found. It looks like we are blood related.... way back when.
We look forward to hearing back from you. We both reside in St. Louis, Missouri... just FYI!
Have a great day
thanks in advance for your info.
Mari & Nancy

My Grandfather was John Chisholm from Malden, Mass. His parents were Alexander and Christy Chisholm. He had 9 brothers and sisters. I might be able to offer help as well as receive help.

Hello, we have had a Chism DNA done, it clearly shows we share a common ancestor on the Robbins side and the Pierce side? I haven't been able to connect this family, does anyone know how they connect? Also John D. Chisholm, Red Buck Chisholm, Jesse Chisholm did they have these surnames in their family? Thanks Vickie

In the interest of accuracy and truth I feel it necessary to challenge what is, for many, a long and dearly-held belief which has been founded on a speculative suggestion made by one or two researchers some years ago and has now become widely held as truth...
Rev Thomas Chisholm (1680-1786), minister of Kilmorack parish near Beauly, Invernessshire had amongst his children two sons named John (b.1727) and Thomas(b.1730).
His sister-in-law, Anne Cuthbert, later Bulloch, emigrated at some point in the 1730s to Georgia and her will of 17th November 1762 made reference to her nephews John and Thomas.
There were at that time two Chisholms named John and Thomas living either side of the Savannah River and the suggestion was that these two may have been the sons of Rev. Thomas in Kilmorack brought to Georgia as young boys by their aunt, Anne Cuthbert after the death of their mother.
However there is no evidence (unless somehone can produce something other than academic speculation) that the nephews in the will had ever made the journey to Georgia - or that they were indeed the same John and Thomas found in Savannah at the time.
There is, on the other hand, clear and incontrovertible evidence that John and Thomas, sons of Rev Thomas Chisholm were married and in SCOTLAND in 1754 and 1764 and their wives were not those of the Georgian Chisholms.
I'm afraid there are a good many descendents of John and Thomas in Georgia who have built family trees back to Rev Thomas in Kilmorack on the basis of what would appear to be a mistaken premise.
I realise this may not be a popular assertion but it's simply a matter of evidence ... which I will be happy to point to if required.
