Any info on this family would be much appreciated. He was born June 1824 and she was born Jan 1838. It appears as if their first dasughter Flora was born in Maine in 1859 and other children in Connecticut.

Hi!
I am searching for my ancestor, John Chisholm, who according to ancestry.com was born in Inverness, Scotland, 14 May 1763 and died in Duncannon, Pennsylvania 4 Aug 1842. His wife's name was Margaret McBride Chisholm (1788-1838). i would like to be able to find a source for this information, since I'm not sure where the family trees on this site found it. John is the link between my American family and Scotland, so I would love to be able to find his death record or tombstone, or any other details to help trace him back to Scotland, since I can't find his birth record, even in the Scottish archives. He is listed in Cumberland and Perry county census data starting in 1810, but I couldn't find any trace of him before that. He helped build the mill in Duncannon in 1827 and then worked there as the miller, according to a google book on Perry county history. Is there anybody out there who is familiar with this Chisholm family? Any help would be so much appreciated. I've bee!
n trying to trace my Chisholm roots for a year now, and have just started to make progress. My great great grandfather Emanuel Chisholm died young, so my grandmother didn't know much about him, which made the research difficult. I'm so excited to be able to connect my family back to Scotland! There must be more information out there! Thanks for your help!
-joanne
