I am relatively new to the whole family tree researching. I found this thread by mistake, and Im not sure if I have found the right Chisholm line here or not.
Im looking for information on a Elmer J. Chisholm. He would have been married to my grandmother Marion in the 60's they may have lived in or around the Pontiac area. Together they had two children Elmer James (little Al) and Bonnie. At the time of their marriage, Marion was raising five kids from previous marriages.
It is my understanding that he died with cancer. At the time of his death, he may have been living somewhere in Louisianna.
If I have the right line that would be great, if not any information that you might be able to provide would be greatly appreicated. Please email me at rainiebeanie(a)yahoo.com

John Chisum was never married. he was not married to Jensie.
There is general dispute as to children of John Chisum. One thought that two young children came with Jensie when she was purchased. The other thought, backed by a Bill of Sale, Family members, Genealogy researchers, the majority argument,in Lamar County TX, is that John was the father of Almeady (Meady) and Harriet.

Hello,

Thank-you

OBITS (sorry for the lenght--could not work the enclosures)
1/27/04 Alexander Chisholm (Mary Bartsh's grandfather - paternal side)
Alexander Chisholm died January 27,1904 at the home of his son James, at North Yakima, Washington. Mrs. Chisholm
and little son, Fay, arrived in St Charles with the body February 1, 1904, and remains were laid to rest in the Catholic
cemetery by the side of his two sons who died in infancy.
Mr. Chisholm was born in Cornwall, Canada, on 1/16/1838. He came in early manhood to Winona county and was
known far and wide by all the early settlers of the region. By occupation he was a blacksmith and for years conducted
a blacksmith shop at Stockton where shod all the horses on the Burbank stage route in '56 and '57.
He was married at the age of 21 to Miss Mary Duncanson by whom he had four children, two sons who survived
him and two daughters, both of who died in infancy. On October 6, 1873, he married in Winona to his present wife
Mary Fay, the second oldest child of Lawrence Fay, who has been a model wife and the most devoted mother to his
children and to her own four stalwart sons.
Twenty five year ago Mr. And Mrs. Chisholm and their boys moved to Jamestown, N.D. where they live till 1892,
when they went to Duluth. In October, 1903, they went to North Yakima, Washington, to reside with this oldest son
and it was there Mr. Chisholm fell a victim to pneumonia. He was ill but twelve days and his death was a great blow to his family, who had thought his stalwart frame and rugged strength would out last may attacks of illness. He suffered little pain and passed away as though falling asleep, conscious to the very last. Indeed in death he slept so peaceful
his narrow bed that all who saw him could hardly believe death had come to their old comrade.
Mr. Chisholm was a man of great strength and vitality, over six feet tall, and was a very generous to little children;
he made an affectionate and considerate husband and father, whose loss is deeply mourned by his wife and six sons,
James, of North Yakima; John, now in Alaska; Colin, of Chicago; Thomas and Alexander, of Duluth, and little Fay,
whose home is with his mother.
Mass for the dead was said for the deceased on Tuesday morning at the parish residence and Rev. Father Horan
read the beautiful service of the church over his remains at the home of Mr. Lawrence Fay and at the grave.
Pall bearers were John Morgan, John Kelley, Nic Kiefer, Eli Shockey and Ben Fay.
5/21/04 St. Charles Union, Obit on Lawrence Fay (Mary Bartsh's great grandfather paternal side)
Lawrence Fay passed away Saturday afternoon, May 16th, 1908, after a lingering illness, aged 81 year. He was born in
County Galway, Ireland, in 1827, and, when eighteen years of age, came, with his brother, Patrick, to the United
States, and for several years made his home in New York and in Portland, Maine. In August, 1852, in north Castle,
N.Y. he was united in marriage with Miss Katherine Kennedy, and in September 1856, they move to the west, coming
directly to Minnesota and purchasing a farm in Quincy, Olmsted county, where he resided until 1901. They were the
parents of six children, five daughters and one son, all of whom with one exception, Margaret, the eldest, survive
him. They are Mrs. Mary E. Chisholm, of Duluth; Thomas of St. Charles; Katherine E., Mrs. E.D. Schockey of
Jamestown, North Dakota; Mrs. P.H. McCarthy of Elba. There are no other immediate relatives as Mr. Fay was the
youngest and last of his family. His wife passed beyond March 9th, 1874. October 16th, 1901, Mr. Fay moved to St.

receive every care and medical attention, but nothing could retard the ravages of the disease. Final services were
held at 10o'clock Monday morning at the Catholic church conducted by Rev. Fr. John Horan and he was laid to rest in
the Catholic cemetery north of town.

Don, my Chisholm branch lived in Tollie for quite a while. I find them them
in Tollie, Marybro, Dingwall and other places in Fodderty in 1841, 1851 and
1861. There are a few Chisholm families in town that I haven't been able to
link up to, but always felt that they were cousins. I have several pages of
SP images of folks that I haven't been able to claim (yet).
Can you give me a few more clues about your family? Where were they in 1851
and 1861? Can you list John's siblings? Who is Isabella and who is she
living with in 1841?
Being that you're a male with the Chisholm surname, it would help if you
chose to do the DNA test. the results might pinpoint which branch your
family belongs to. I don't think there are any that match up to ours and it
would be really exciting if you did.
Anna
