I would be very interested in sharing some information regarding Elisha and Elijah Chism, John Chisum and Elleanor Gillentine were in VA. Kentucky and TN. Eveyone has them listed as haveing twenty two children this is not so, I have a deed gift made by their mother in Warren county, Kentucky, she names all of her children and even some of her Estes grandchildren. I do know Captain Elijah Chism also Chisum was in White county, TN. with wife Lucy Clairborne, etc. Elisha Chisum married first to Elizabeth Walden 1787, Lincoln county, Kentucky, we know he had a second wife by the name of Winny or Winnifred, he died in intestate and Winny was exc. of his will in Lawrence county, ARk. or Possible there could have been a son of Elisha who married Wenny. But I do know that Elijah Chism was in Ark. Also Benjmin Chism son of Elizabeth and Elizabeth had a son William Chism born 1827, I have his line, I would just have to dig out my notes, but there are Elisha's and
Elijah's in Ark. There were three main line of Chisholms, Chisms, and Chisums in Ark. The first line was Ignatious Chisholms, arrived in Ark. living in Johnson county, filed a greivance with the goverment because the Osage Indians were stealing thier cattle and horses, the government moved them to Fort Gibson , Ok. Then the John and Elleanor Chisum line, Elisha was in JOhnson county, for a while, the Lawrence county, Strawberry township, son Benjamin migrated to Clay, and Izard county. Then about 1858, decendants of Adam the Jacobite came to Ark. The book History of the Chisholms by John D. Chisholm clearly proves this. I do know that Eliljah Chisholm married Lucy Clairborne and Winny Chism was dismissed by letter from the Big Springs Church in 1805, I loose them and pick them back up in Ark. Unless your Elisha or Elijah was from the Ignatious Chisolm line. I have tried and tried to get some of Jesse Chisolms descendants to do a DNA test, to see
if they match our line, they said they would think about it, but I haven't heard back from them, please email me at vlomon(a)att.net Vickie Lomon

I am not of this line , but I wish to research it because of the Scism surname. I believe that Elijah Chisum, a lawyer who in the last twenty years of the 1700s was in Hawkins County Tennessee, may be the father of a William SCISM who got married there in 1802. Elijah moved on to Arkansas, Oklahoma and other places, but is known to have had a son named William born about 1775-8.
Little is known about William Chisum, and no records of ANY Scism in Hawkins county has been found before 1802.
I would like to get information that supports or declines to support the possibility.

Thanks, I will email you. We also the file going down one or two branches into present day Massachussets, but all info will no doubt help when trying to track the original immigrant from Strathglass into America. This family is closely related on the male Chisholm line to the family of Seoc Buidhe,(Blond John Chisholm)also well known in the Pomquet area
regards
Robert

Message Board Post:
Greetings. I am trying to track down a family with a last known address in Heatherton,Antigonish, in 1830's although they may have been in NS a whole lot longer than that.
This is the family of William Chisholm who is distinguished by the name William Plankoo the King Chisholm. His parent are William Chisholm and Margaret.
I was following an hypothesis that this family just might be from the father and son William Chisholms who were on board the "Glasgow", which was waylaid outside NY, and the able bodied men pressed into the Kings service, where they served in the 84th Regt (Royal Highland Emigrants, 2Bn)Most of their land grants seem to have been quite some distance from Antigonish however, over in Hants Co, with just a couple of grantees in the 84th settled in Pictou. I thought I would just ask in case you have heard of the name Plankoo, whether it may be a Micmaq name or some old Acadian dialect I wouldnt know, and on the offchance that you may also know of any land grants to William Chisholm of the 84th regiment.
Thanks
Robert Chisholm

I am looking for anyone who has a connection to brothers Fred and Frank
Chisholm, from ME, originally from Nova Scotia. Both married to Gertrude
Palmer of ME. Settled in Medford, MA. Don't have exact DOB or DOD but
would guess it to be roughly 1880. Sound familiar to anyone? I can try
to get more details on DOB and perhaps some other family names.
Thanks!!
Regards,
Cheryl
