My name is Lisa Holden. My grandfather was Nathan Lofton, son of Minnie Buckhalter. He passed away on April 10th of this year and his daughter, my mother, Linda Lofton Stroughter passed away last Tuesday on Nov. 17th. Both of them donated their bodies to the Tulane Medical School for Medical Research. My grandfather's wishes was to have his ashes scattered at the cemetery where his mother and grandparents are buried. If anyone knows the name of the Cemetery or have any other questions for me, please contact me at bendalefarms(a)hotmail.com.. Thank you

Hi Jim, Thank you for your prompt reply. I have the complete family back to our great-grandfather, George. I have the ship info for his Unclae Thomas (first arrival)and the ship George came over on. I'm joining the DNA project today. I've no brothers so a cousin agreed to do it. I've been on the Durham web-site but haven't ordered anything yet. Will do so next week. I have some photos on my public tree you might be interested in.Carolyn

Dear Carolyn,
We are definitely connected. We are second cousins, having the same gr grandfather I have a photograph of Joseph and Jennie's gravestone in Oak Hill Cemetery. Several years ago, when I was visiting back home in Sharon, I photographed all the Chisholm monuments in Oak Hill Cemetery. I've posted some of them on the Mercer County genealogy site, but never got around to posting them all. I would be glad to share whatever I have.

Hi Val.
If your daughter wanted to explore her husbands "Chisholm" line, then she could check out the traditional mehtods of geneaology to see if there is a trace through ancestry.com or Fam Search, could ask at the Chisholm Forum
(http://www.clansman.info/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl), and if she is really serious then the DNA project is available for her or her Chisholm husband to join.

regards
Robert

Hi, I don't know much about the chisholm families in the USA, but there is a strong connection around Manchester, Lancashire, England. My daughter married one and has 2 daughters. The family is a bit mixed up, because of divorces and 2nd partnerships etc. My daughter's children have something like 9 grandparents. If I can be of any help to anyone, let me know.

Hi,
Can I get more info on the DNA testing? I believe reading once that it is preferable to have a male test. I also think there are several different tests and other than the cost factor, what is the difference and what is the best? What will the results tell me? Where in Scotland my family line originated? Names of ancestors? Thanks!
Regards,
Cheryl (Chisholm) Kennedy

Hi Kentucky Jelliochi.
Any news on who you know your ancestors to be, we may have them already oin record, and if not ,why dont you come on in and join the DNA project. That way we may be able to tell you if your ancestors were ever kicked out of Scotland for the whole Bonnie Prince Charlie thing. There are plenty of other reasons why your ancestors may have been kicked out of Scotland, cant blame eveything on poor old Chairlie.

Hi Kentucky Chism.
You guys have so far got at least 3 different progenitor lines based on Y -DNA analysis. The prince charlie thingy might be a runner for your own family if your ancestors sneaked in to North Carolina between 1746 and 1775, without filling in any emigration or immigration forms. But the more famous one you may be referring to is Adam Chisholm who was deported to Virginia for his part in trying to help out Prince Charlies Dad, that was in 1716 long before Charlie arrived in Scotland. Adams descendents have spread their seed far and wide throughout the south, no doubt some of it is scattered also in Kentucky... although KY has a strong elemnt of the James Chism of VA group, which predates Adam Chisholme

My nephew Richard Chisholm from Saskatchewan ordered a DNA kit some time ago ( June2009? ) and I was to pay the cost for this.
To date he has not received a reply.
Your assistance in tracing this order would be very much appreciated.
Thank you in advance for this.
