Re your query re Jesse. His father Ignatius Chisholm, a son of John D Chisholm of Knoxville, who was well connected with various cherokee leaders, married the sister of Corn Tassel, so to answer your question, Jessie's mother is Cherokee and his grandfather or great grandfather is as far as we know, Scottish. (Ignatius is American). So far there is nothing to suggest that Jessies family is connected to either of the two early Virginian familes(Richard Cheesome and Adam Chisholm). Innuendo around the Blount conspiracy is suggestive that either John D himself was Scottish , or his father was.

Robert Chisholm

Greetings Uncle D
I was wondering if you could be more specific in your request. Are you looking for relatives of the Leonard Chisholm who married the swedish lady Olga Anderson, and who died in 1942 in Wisconsin. Or is it somebody else, there are a few Alexander Chisholms who were around the Carolina area in pre rev America, is it one of these gentlemen. There is also a specific Chisholm forum where you may be able to register and post a search question.
http://www.clansman.info/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl
Another method of checking out your genealogy is the DNA project.. if you are biologically descended from say one of the early Carolina Chisholms, such as the family with the lantations, then, if your name is Chisholm and you are descended in a strictly paternal line, you will have the same Y-chromosome. We have built up a database of around 60 Chisholms so far in the Y-DNA database, and have seen many distinct family groups emerge, which prove a direct biological relationship. So far we dont have a candidate from the early Sth Carolina Plantation families, and we dont have a sample from the Leonard Chisholm (Wisconsin) family, but both of these would be a welcome addition. If there is an Elliot Chisholm, and if that is a name from many generations ago, that may be a hint of Border Chisholm ancestry rather than Highland Chisholm.

I have that book also, very informative. John did a great job on his
research. He traced my Chisums early to Ark. About 1812 and 1819. He thinks
we belong the Cow John Simpson Chisum line. And he is probably correct. We
have ordered a DNA kit for our Chisum line so maybe in about four to six
weeks we may know something. Vickie

I know Iam replying to a 2000 posting but it worth a shot.
I am trying to find information on Alexander Chisholm born in Scotland in 1801 and married Sarah Varnes in Scotland not sure what year. She was born in 1791 in Scotland.
If you have any information on either one of these it would help me break through the dead end I am coming to.

I have contacted Jesse twice, he stated let him think about the testing. I
would like to know for certain if there are any other male descendants from
this line that is willing to be tested. The test would be completely paid
by our family. Also my other question is, has any of this line already been
tested so we can get our family member to order the kit and have his DNA
tested. Desperately looking for a descendant from the Cherokee Chisholm
line. Vickie Lomon
