I'm looking for any Chisholm lines that connect with Port Hawksbury, Soldier's Cove and Sydney in Cape Breton from about 1800 forward. Also MacDonald connection to Alexander Christopher Chisholm.
My email is ladyt219(a)hotmail.com

Hi Butch, The Chisholm DNA project is now up and running, and includes Chism and Chisum in the project. If you woud consider joining the project (refer to FamilyTreeDNA.com) you may be able to, eventually, untangle part of the mystery.
You are indeed correct about the connections of the Chisholma wit the Stuarts, and at the time you mention i the 1600's it is more likely that any Chisholm in support or working for the Stuart Kings is going to be a Border Chisholm(e). They generally kept the e on the end of the ame longer tha the Highlanders, and I note that Richard Cheeshome has an e on the end of his name

Greetings Mark,
Do you really have John and Robert de Cheseholme in your family tree? These gentlemen were both born in Scotland, I wonder if you have considered joining the Chisholm DNA project. There are already 3 English Chisholms taking the plunge, and 2 from NZ, one from USA. The project is in is very early stages, with only 1 full result so far, but next bunch coming out soon. With DNA we will eventually be able to sort out all Chisholmes Chisholms Cheesome, Chism, doesnt matter how man times you change the spelling, the DNA will remain relatively constant. You can find the Chisholm project at FamilyTreeDNA.com

Hi Jessica
I am still new to this family history thing that is taking up so much of my time now days, any way as you so rightley say the name chisholm has changed many times over the years, I have 4 versions in my tree including 3 generations of Chesholme John c1300, Richard c1330, Alexander c1350. Alexander's son was Robert DE Chisholme c1374. he was born in Scotland. However according to the best information that I have found John,Richard,& Alexander were all born in Isleworth Middlesex which is about 10 miles west of London.
I hope this gives you somthing to go on and have fun serching.
Very kind regards
Mark Robert Chisholm
