I am looking for the parent names of Thomas J. Chisholm, born 1812 in Kentucky. His father was born in VA. Thomas married Catherine Lilliston in 1839 in, or near, Maysville, KY. I do not have that marriage license or bond however.
Thank you for any help.

Looking for data on Elijah, his brothers John and Absolem, and
particularly on a son named William.
Elijah was in Hawkins County Tennessee, 1777, with John. Associated with
Sevier, and Capt. Shelby, and was a Captain in the Revolution.
He left Hawkins County c. 1803, the same year the William I am
interested in ( trying to establish if he is the William that Elijah
fathered) William Scism married an Elizabeth Duncan from Jonesboro,
Tennessee, in Hawkins County.
Q. Did William Chisum change to SCISM?

LISTERS:
I would appreciate your help.
I am trying to fill out the connection between the CHISHOLMs of Pictou County, Nova Scotia and my MACKENZIEs specifically around Springville, Grant's Lake, Stellarton.
My concerns are the ancestors and descendants of these people:
ROBERT C. CHISHOLM and CATHERINE MACDONALD (1841-1921), daughter of FINLAY MACDONALD (1800-1881) and BARBARA MACKENZIE (18010-1887).
SIMON FRASER CHISHOLM (1893-1971) and ALEEN MACKENZIE (1896-1983), DAUGHTER OF ALEXANDER MACKENZIE (1849-1927) AND BESSIE MURRAY (1866-1939).
MARGARET JESSIE CHISHOLM (1875-1951) and WILLIAM MACKENZIE (1864-1933), son of WILLIAM MACKENZIE (1832-1916) and CATHERINE MACQUARRIE (1836-1872)
CHRISTY CHISHOLM (1804-1890), DAUGHTER OF JAMES CHISHOLM of Glen Urquhart and his wife MARTHA MARJORY. These folks came over on the SARAH in 1801 with my earliest MACKENZIEs. CHRISTY CHISHOLM married DAVID McINTOSH, son of CHARLES McINTOSH of Petty, Inverness-shire and ISABELLA ROSS.
ALL of these folks are related to me directly or through marriage. They are all in my family website: www.mackenziefamilytree.com. I have many other CHISHOLMS on this website and you can make a Search on the opening page to find them.
I would appreciate any information you can give me.
Sincerely,
BILL DORGAN

The two Chisholm families (related) who settled in Stoneboro, Mercer County, Pa., and with whom I am familiar, can be found in the records at http://www.durhamrecordsonline.com/. They can be traced back to George Chisholm, b 1801 and Mary ?. They both have Greggs attachments. I can provide more details from my research at this site and the research of others who have pointed me in this direction. This site also has some interesting history of the Durham area which explains the Chisholm presence there. There is a photo of the church where the early Chisholms were married and buried, also.

I am looking for the ancestors of George Chisholm, born about 1820 in Hebron, Durham, England. In 1838, he married Isabella Broom, born about 1821 in Monkwearmouth, Durham, and they had at least 9 children. Any links to George's ancestors would be appreciated. Thanks.

To all those who would consider using the Y-DNA testing as
a most helpful and modern tool for your genealogical research, to help you try and look over that brick wall, I am posting the adress of Family TreeDNA below. have a good ook through the website, there are lots of pages to help you understand the processess involved.
go to http://www.familytreedna.com/
You will be able to access the project for Clan Chisholm, which includes all the variants isted above, by typing the surname into the searh box near the top right corner.
The Chisholm group has only recently begun, but as with all
such groups, needs a lot of data for meaningful conclusions to be drawn. As a member of the Chisholm group, you would also be entitled to join various other groups, and you would e able to put your DNA results onto a worldwide database (Ysearch) and from here you never know who or what you would find.

Hi Teresa, nce to hear from you.
The best way would be to have a good look around the FTDNA website, http://www.familytreedna.com/ that will give a lot of info on the processes involved, then go to the Chisholm project page, just type in Chisholm or use this link.
http://www.familytreedna.com/(meqts0bnosf0feiidroo1kic)/public/Chisholm/i...
You can also communicate directly with the administrator of Clan Chisholm Project, Alice Fairhust afairhurst(a)earthlink.net
The important thing to understand Teresa, is thay Y-DNA is for males and mtDNA for females, and while the mtDNA will tell you about your ultimate maternal line, only the Y-DNA will reveal anything of genealogical interest to the surname Chisum.

Dear List,
I am trying to find information on my great great great grandmother Bridget
and her daughter Hannah. Bridget belonged to David Chisholme Jr., she was
born in Virginia probably in the Louisa county area. In 1809/10 David moved to
Chester, County , SC. After his death in 1816 I can't find anymore
information on the pair. If any one has any slave information on this family I'd
appreciate if you would contact me. Thank you.

Regret that I cannot give additional info on Alexander. His wife, Carrie (Caroline) was my great-great grandmother. She was born: 5 May 1841 on St. Peter's Island (off of PEI). Birth name was Caroline Taylor. baptised 18 Jun 1841. No record of death. Expect took place in Alberta near Red Deer. Alexander b. abt May 1843. died abt 1913 at PEI (hearsay, no one has produced record.
Carrie's mother was Elizabeth Lund. Her father was James Taylor II. Easy enough to figure out what his father's name was just don't know where he was born or died.
Elizabeth Lund was the daughter of William Lund (immigrated to PEI, Settled on St. Peter's Island after being given a grant by the governor to be the lighthouse keeper. Mother of Elizabeth was Mary Hunter. Both emmigrated with some children from England, Hull, York on the Valiant. Haven't got it further back than that.

Have you Chisholms,Chisms,Chisums,Chisholmes, all out there looking for connections to the past, considered the Y-DNA project now being run via FamilyTree DNA. This is a relatively new project, with the very first result now available, and an intriguing result. A second Chisholm is now being tested you might see where or how you fit in via the Y-DNA test. This Y test is for male Chisholms only, but Chisholm females are welcome to join the project in the mtDNA section.
