I think the one in Pickens Co is a cousin to Obediah's father, Gillington. That Obediah was from S.C. where some of Gillington's cousins lived. Some went to Ky and others to Al. You will find the Pickens Co Obediah in the 1850 Death Census. That is he died before the census was taken in 1850. I can't remember if he was in Pickens Co when he died.

Don't know where they were before 1920. I have a letter written by John's father, Obediah, to a cousin in Texas, Friend Everette Chisholm, and Obediah tells Friend that John is with his uncle Edmund learning "tooth carpentry". Edmund Chisholm was a dentist as well as his brother Lewis Clark Chisholm. Edmund was practicing in Franklin Co, Ala, Lawrence Co, Al and maybe in later years in St Louis, Mo. Just dug the following up. I'll see if it pastes in:

Helpful Chart handy for calculating birth dates from ages listed on
Census
HOW TO FIGURE A BIRTHDATE
REMEMBER THIS NUMBER
8870
This is not an error: It is the number to remember when you want to
find
the birthdate of someone when you only have the date of death and age.
How do you figure the birthdate?
Suppose the person died May 6, 1889, at the age of 71 years, 7 months,
9
days.
1. Write the year, month, day as:->18890506
2. Subtract the age at death:------->710709
3. This gives the figure:--------->18179797
4. Now subtract 8870:----------------->8870
5. The result is:----------------->18170927
Year 1817, 9th month (Sept), 27th day or 27 Sept, 1817

John,
Thanks for the info if you have time could you please send me or send the
message I posted to Val.
The reason I'm asking is I have 2 more weeks of school last week of July in
finals so I'm doing a lot of cramming it been a long 2 yrs of school. And all
I have been doing on line is checking my email & looking up different things
for the law I'm studying to be a paralegal its almost as hard to be a lawyer.
I don't think right now I could find anything that does not have to do with
the law my poor brain hurts.
Thank you again for the info I will keep it in my files.

Just saw your post re the Chisholm family. If you
want the information to be available to the most people

Clan Chisholm Socirty, U.S. Branch and can be reached
by E-mail at ccsusb(a)monad.net. She would then make
the information available to all interested parties in the U.S. and
internationally.
