Sorry, no. My mother said she remembers "Uncle George", and that his wife, called "Aunt Sis" died young of tuberculosis. I have an uncle still living in Mobile, who was Marceline's brother. He is Pio Burtanog Junior, but we call him uncle Son. He was my grandfather's youngest brother. We will be visiting hi this summer, God willing. I will post any information I can get from that visit. Thanks....she was my grandfather's sister and I did need her death information.
Dear List,
I am researching the Chisholm family in Gainesville, Florida brought there
as slaves around 1855 from Chester, South Carolina. I was told that during
their migration that they stopped in Georgia near Jacksonville. Florida. I have
seen in the 1870 census that there many blacks with the surname of Chisholm
some with the same names as some of my family members lived in the savannah
area. What I'd like to know if any of these peoples ancestors came with our
family and was sold to other planters in the Georgia area, or if there were
planters with the same last name in that region. Any infroamtion would be
appreciated.
Regards,
Antoinette J. Anderson

Daniel
Hugh
Richard P.
John
Daniel may have been born between 1780-1790
Hugh was born around 1823
Daniel Chisholm was married to a Margaret. Daniel is listed on the Monroe County, AL census in 1830 and 1840; in 1830, he is living beside a Mary Chisholm.
John Chisholm married Matilda Curry in 1834 in Monroe County, AL. He and Matilda later moved to Mobile County, AL, and one of their sons, William Allen, moved to Winn Parish, LA.
Richard P. owned land in Monroe County - at the same time as John, Daniel, and Hugh. I have not been able to find Richard P. after the late 1830s.
Not sure if this is the same Hugh - but Hugh Chisholm married Mary Ann Elizabeth McMillan Feb. 14, 1850 in Pensacola, FL. He worked in the Navy Yard in the shipping business. On the Escambia County, FL census of 1850, he is listed as being 27 years old - from Alabama. His wife is Mary Ann - born in Alabama. I'm not sure if this is the same Hugh that was in Monroe County in he late 1830s. This Hugh who married Mary Ann - had a son named Daniel T. Chisholm. Hugh died or was killed before Daniel was born.
Any help on the Chisholms listed would be GREAT. I'm trying to find out if Daniel was Hugh's father - and I'm trying to find out where they came from.
Teresa
