I am searching for information on my ggggrandfather, Hugh Chisholm. I have found land patents held by Hugh, Daniel, and John Chisholm in the Monroe County, AL area.
Here is the information he gave me:
The only thing I know about the Chisholms of Alabama is that Daniel and
Margarett McLean Chisholm were here in Robeson Co NC, and then moved to
Monroe CO AL. Daniel Chisholm, was born about 1791, and about the year
1808 he was married in Robeson Co NC to Margarett McLean. They were
married by Samuel Biggs a Justice of the Peace.
Daniel Chisholm departed this life on the 21st of August 1847 in Monroe
Co
AL. I don't know the names of their children, but it is quite possible
that they had a son named "Hugh", as the name Hugh is of Scottish
origins.
The Chisholms was from a Scottish settlement here in the Carolina's
Mr. Sam West provided me with this information. If anyone knows about any of these Chisholm, please email me... I've hit a brick wall. I found Hugh in 1850 in Pensacola with his wife Mary Ann (1850 Escambia County, FL census). According to family, he was in the shipping business- worked in the Pensacola Navy Yard. He either died or was killed the same year he and his wife married. Too, they had a son named Daniel T. the same year he died/was killed.

Teresa

Our Family descends from slavery , they were owned by David and Thomas Chisholm and then to Suprey Chisholm. Around 1850 William Stringfellow brought them to Gainesville , Florida from Chester , South Carolina and they were dispersed between the Chestnut, Stringfellow and Haile plantations. We are looking forward to meeting all our family lines.
