Each person is like a whole busload of their ancestors. When the bus
stops, you never know who is going to get off.
My personal research on John D. Chisholm (Abt 1740-1818) and his proven children is now available on my personal website at www.zianet.com/blove . Based on information from grandaughter, Narcissa Chisholm's "Memoirs of Narcissa Owen, 1831-1907, and succession files from second wife, Patsy Brown Chisholm. Includes complete bibliography.
Descendant, Bill Breedlove, Las Cruces, NM
Does anyone have a copy of a book titled, Hyde Family in the US? It is a
brief history of the Chisholm family I am looking for. Compiler Address:
Lowell, Michigan; Publication: 1986 .
Sure you like to get some information out of it! Thanks much!

I am now able to get back online after being without electricity for the
past week. We were hit here by a devastating ice storm last week. Many
people are still without power.
If anyone has sent me a message and I have not replied, it is because I
did not get it. I lost a great deal of mail due to my mailbox being full and
bouncing.
I'm glad to be back, and hope all is well.

Kathy,
The I.O.O.F. stands for Independent Order of Oddfellows. It's an order
closely related to Freemasonry. Several of my line of Chisholms belonged to
it here in Lawrence County Tennessee. The I.O.O.P., I 've never seen. I have
no clue.

This is a handy site I came across for those abbreviations on flagholders
and also sometimes on headstones:

Hello List,
I am looking for some information on a George Chisholm. He was from the Marshall,Michigan area(c.1840-1850's) He was a member of the I.O.O.F(whatever that was) and died in Michigan Flat, California in April 1858. He left a widow (Catherine Kocher) behind and children in Marshall. I had originally thought he may have been involved in the California goldrush but am not sure now. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.
Kathy
Dear List:
I have been researching the History of slaves that once belong to David
ChisholmeJr., for sometimes, recently I went to the Afro-Louisana web site
and entered his name. there were four hits, all of these hits were slaves
that he sold in Louisiana, the name of the slaves were Judith, Barnabe,
Sarah, and another one with out a name. what I have read about this man was
that he was a solider or maybe an attorney, however I believe that he sold
and traded in human chattel. In 1816 my great great great grandmother was
listed with her children, Hannah and Ned. I have found a few things in the
libraries with Ned's name and two of his brothers, but nothing of Hannah and
Bridget. my thought now is that he may have sold them.
If any one who belongs to the family of David Chisholme who may have during
their research come across any information on him and his sales, I would
appreciate if you would share with me. Also if anyone might lead me to the
areas that did a lot slaves sales, I would appreciate it and what information
that I have I am willing to share. thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Antoinette J. Russell
