Hello listers. The following was received from a friend, and I am passing it on. Can anyone help? Does this resonate with anyone? Any help would be appreciated.
There was a family of Chisholms who lived in Liverpool in the 1740's who I
think could be my Chisholm ancestors. My earliest Chisholm was Hugh
Chisholm who married in the Sheffield area in 1795 and died 1806, which
means he could have been older than normal at marrying - or a second
marriage (He would have been 48-49) Following the names of his children in
the Scottish naming pattern, his father was likely John, and this fits the
lancashire family. (The Lancashire family were John Chisholm/Mary Hamond who
married at St.Nicholas's, Liverpool, 6 Feb 1742. Their children were:- John
(1744); Hugh (1746); James (1749) and Mary (1752- St. George, Liverpool). I
have been through all the records for Scotland and England I can find for
Hugh who married in 1795, and this is the only one who is remotely likely.
Hugh had 4 boys and their names were John, Hugh, James - and Daniel. So
circumstantial evidence only. But I can not find anything further -- no
marriages or deaths - in the Liverpool area.
Many thanks,
Fran

8:00 Battle of the Clans. A 2-hour look beyond the myth of the Highland
Clansman that tells the often-tragic story of this symbol of
Scotland--heroic
warrior clad in tartan kilt marching to the bagpipe. See why, 250 years ago,
Clansmen were seen as barbaric, and special laws were enacted prohibiting
the
wearing of tartans, playing of pipes, and even speaking Gaelic! CC [TV G]

I'm looking for a lead on my ancestors from Nova Scotia.
What I have is as follows: Angus Chisholm,(my gg grandfather) b 1800-1815 in
Nova Scotia or Scotland. He married a McDonald, first name unknown. His Son
John Chisholm,(my g grandfather)b. 1834 in Nova Scotia or maybe Scotland
married Elizabeth McCulloch of Stewiacke, NS on 1 Oct 1860 at Truro, NS.
His obit stated that he was a seaman who lived at various times in PEI and
NS. Around the 1870 timeframe he moved his family to Minnesota. His son John
Edward Chisholm,(my grandfather) b Mar 1869 marred Edna Kerr who died young.
He then married Sarah Elizabeth Donahue. Any possible connection out there?

After battling with a server that seemed to bounce a good lot of messages
sent, I am returning to my old server. If any of you have tried to contact
me and I have not responded, that might be why.
If you need to contact me personally, you may address it to
funyfarm(a)hit.net
On another note, in light of events of this week, if any of you have a
memorial page or know of one that you would like to share, please let me
know. I will be making a page of links for memorial/tribute pages and
putting them up on my site.
Or if you have any brief thoughts or words that you would like to share
with others on the page, they would be considered as well. Those too should
be addressed to me at funyfarm(a)hit.net

A short while ago I was asking online if anyone knew where I might procure inexpensive prints of Erchless and Urquhart Castles, connected to the Chisholms. I have, after quite a search, found an artist who does such work, and wanted to tell others in case this would be of interest to others. Take a look at www.harleymiller.com - prints can be ordered in black and white, brown and white, or painted to order, and very affordable.
