Hi Vickie,
I found the most amazing document, did you read my post on David Chisholme,
Jr.? I found him in 1810 the same year he moved to Chester, S. C, I believe
that he made a living selling slaves. the history that I have on him from the
book, the author says that he was a military man an attorney, but I believe
that he dealt in human chattel. Do you know where I might find more of this
information? thanks in advance.
Antoinette
I am sorry, I wish I could be of more help on this line, but I don't know
that much about David, if he was a military man and an attorney, you should
be able to trace him through his records and courts documents I would think,
I am still searching for my elusive Elisha Chisum, they were in Hawkins and
Grainger county, 1803 to 1805, then I loose them and pick them up in ARk.
1817, I still can't help but think they are somehow related to Igntious?
Igantious and Elisha were in the same county in the year of 1817, Elisha was
in Lawrence county, 1827, where he died, he also starts showing up in
Lawrence on the tax records and census, 1820, but he is the son of John and
Elleanor Gillentine Chism, I am thinking they were cousins? Good luck in
your research, Vickie

I am looking for any information on Deborah E. Chisholm. She was born
June 7, 1876 in the state of Minnesota. She graduated from nursing in
1900 from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She married my
grandfather, Anthony Curtis Mossauer, date and where unknown.
I would appreciate any help given.
Thank you

Dear List:
I have just received a death certificate for someone that I believe is a
relative. His name is James Chisholm and he was born around 1886, he murdered
on the 3rd of February 1906 near Georgetown, Florida in Putnam County. The
cause of death was a shot from a. 38 caliber pistol, the death certificate
says verdict was a willful murder. James was buried February 4th, 1906
without a funeral director. could anyone tell me where Georgetown is near,
and is there a cemetery near there for blacks. Also if anyone has any
information on those kinds of killings during those times. Thank you in
advance.
Sincerely,
Antoinette Russell
Researching chisholms form Hanover and Louisa Counties Virginia, Chester,S.C.
and Gainesville, Florida and vicinity.
Mr. Breedlove,
There are so many Chisholms and they all use the same names, I don't know how
many John D. Chisholm are in the book, I am going to check out your website.
I know that there was two lines in Virginia, one was I believe Chisum and
they were in Amelia County, and the others are in Louisa and Hanover
Counties. The funny thing about all of these families is that seem to be in
the same areas around the same time and at some point in time they start
spelling their names the same way.
Thank you,
Antoinette
Dear Mr. Breedlove:
thank you so much for your response, Is your John D. Chisholm also known as
Blind John Chisholm? If so my David Chisholme is one of his younger siblings,
I have John D. Chisholm born in Hanover Co., Va. Married in Spartanburg Co.,
S. C in 1774, and died June 15, 1829, Perry Co... Alabama.. and his wife
Sarah Harris Died 1848 Sparta, TN. This information was taken from the Chiz,
History of the Chisholme/Chism Family. According to the author of the The
Chiz, he has David Chisholme moving into Chester, S. C around 1809/1810 baby
sitting his brothers children and some nephews, but April of 1810 David
Chisholme, Jr., was in St. Martin Parish selling slaves to Louis
Delahoussaye, and Francois Ozzene and his sons. My thoughts have been since I
found this document is that he may have sold my great greatgreatgrandmother
and her daughter Hannah. I know there are quite a few people on the list that
belong to this particular line and sometimes they over look the slaves that
were sold in their families. It is so important to share this information
because most of our history is hidden away on estate sales along with the
chattel. so many people are embarrassed to even speak of such things. But
that was then and this is now. I appreciate you for sharing your families
slave history with me. you also have given me some clues, I am going to try
and find out more about the Louisiana connection.
Thank you once again! Let me know if our John D. is the same gentleman.
Regards,
Antoinette J. Russell
Dear Antoinette,
I have admired your search through your numerous contributions on this list.
While I doubt I have material leads for you at this time, I am nonetheless
obliged to add some coincidental information which may or may not be of any
help.
I do not know the David Chisholm, Jr you referenced in the 1816 time frame
in Louisiana. My own research has led me to Feliciano Parish, Louisiana
where Patsy Brown Chisholm Brent died in September 1819. Patsy is the
second wife of John D. Chisholm whom she divorced in 1799 in Knoxville, TN
and remarried William Brent in 1800. There are numerous documents in the
partitioning of Patsy's estate which have helped me prove the wives and
children of John D. Chisholm. While I know John D. Chisholm sold slaves
occasionally, and probably his son Ignatius as well, the names below are
listed as partitioned property of Patsy and her husband William Brent:
One girl Tabby and child Andrew, Ginney and child, Negroe boy George, Negroe
boy Dennis, son of Lucey (who came into marriage by William Brent.)
These documents indicate John R. Chisholm, Titus Ogden Chisholm, and Joseph
D. Chisholm (sons of John D. and Patsy Brown Chisholm) may have lived in
Louisiana since leaving Tennessee after Patsy's marriage to William Brent in
1800. From these records John R. Chisholm had an adult daughter Virginia.
Otherwise, I have not researched any of their descendents, so it is at least
possible your David Chisholm may be related.

1819-1820. Succession Files of John R. Chisholm, Box 18, Feliciano Parish,

Dear List:
I have been researching the History of slaves that once belong to David
ChisholmeJr., for sometimes, recently I went to the Afro-Louisana web site
and entered his name. there were four hits, all of these hits were slaves
that he sold in Louisiana, the name of the slaves were Judith, Barnabe,
Sarah, and another one with out a name. what I have read about this man was
that he was a solider or maybe an attorney, however I believe that he sold
and traded in human chattel. In 1816 my great great great grandmother was
listed with her children, Hannah and Ned. I have found a few things in the
libraries with Ned's name and two of his brothers, but nothing of Hannah and
Bridget. my thought now is that he may have sold them.
If any one who belongs to the family of David Chisholme who may have during
their research come across any information on him and his sales, I would
appreciate if you would share with me. Also if anyone might lead me to the
areas that did a lot slaves sales, I would appreciate it and what information
that I have I am willing to share. thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Antoinette J. Russell
