Cheryl,
I doubt that I can help you unless you can relate to the John D.
Chisholm early descendant line. My work was to prove my relationship
during the period 1750-1834. That has been extensive, but a very
narrow line of research. Except my own line from John D., son Thomas,
his dau Jane, her dau Carolyn Walton Bruton, I have not tracked other
Chisholms. A copy of my book on this research with complete
descendant outline is available on line on my family web page:
http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/b/r/e/Jan--Breedlove/.
If you have questions regarding this work, I will be glad to assist as
much as I can.
Bill Breedlove
Roderick C. Chisholm was born in North Carolina in 1812. He had a sister
named Janet. I don't have any information on her or their ancestors.
They also had an aunt named Janet who was married to a McGillveray.
Janet McGillivray died about 1849 in Barbour County, Alabama. My ancestor
Roderick C. Chisholm inherited land from her and was instructed to take care
of his sister Janet. I I don't know if the aunt's maiden name was Chisholm
or if she was an aunt on his mother's side of the family. I don't think she
had any living children as they were not mentioned.
Should you find any information, I would like to have it.

Pat and others,
Sympathetic to your search, I would just like to say that I have
researched Chisholms in Charleston and at the archives in Columbia
from 1740 through about 1810. Also there are a lot in Savannah. I
was researching John D. Chisholm who apparently had a brother Thomas,
a mariner, and a father, William, who died in Charleston. There are
many other
Chisholms throughout this region who were not directly related to mine
as far as I could determine. John went on to TN, the panhandle of NC
at that time. I am not aware of any slave holdings at that time, but
John did involve himself in slave trading later on.

My first posting.
My wife's 2nd great grandfather and mother is A.Jackson Chisholm, the "A"
could be Andrew. He was born in AL.
about 1818 and is married to Amanda Mc Laughlin born in Tenn.about 1820.
They and their children are listed in the1860 census of Cherokee Co AL.
We are trying to find his and her parents.
all help is appreciated,

Hi Pam,
thank you for your email, If it is at all possible would you let me know the
names of the enslaved people, that is if you come across it. Do you know if
you belong to the same family of Chisholmes. The father of the man who owned
my family was Adam the Jacobite. I have a book called the Chiz, History of
the Chisholme/Chism family by John D. Chisholm . if you come across any name
that I can look up for you let me know. You know a hundred and twenty-five
miles is not to far for relatives to migrate too. stay in touch and maybe we
can figure this thing out.

Sue,what has probably happened you have ended up on the Chisholm rootsweb list.I don't know if you subscribed or not but you will get everything anybody writes to the list. You will even get copies of your own letters back. This is automaticlly generated. If you did not subscribe ..send an e-mail to CHISHOLM-L-request@ rootsweb.com and put "unsubscribe in the body of the letter and you wil be taken off the lists. If you don't know anything about the people the letter is asking about just don't answer .It was confusing to me at first .I am new at searching for my family roots..but I am learning...Smile..

I know very little about my family but maybe someone out there know
something.
My grandmother was Gertrude Palmer of Maine, married to Fred and Frank
Chisholm (born around 1880) (of Maine, Eastern Provinces of Canada, don't know
for sure but likely Nova Scotia). She had married Frank and had one child and
then husband died and she married his brother Fred and had many more (I believe
14) children. Very little history is known. Does anyone have a tree with
brothers Frank and Fred in it?
