Searching for any additional info on John Calvin CHISHOLM who died 1836 in Marshall Co., MS. He had 2 known children, Daniel John Calvin CHISHOLM and Mary Jane CHISHOLM. Mary Jane was born in 1835, somewhere in Tennessee. She married 1856 in Holly Springs, Marshall Co., MS to Maj. Asa Evans Stratton, Sr. of Panola Co., MS. Daniel J. C. CHISHOLM also married 1856 in Marshall Co., MS to Mary HUNTER.
John Calvin CHISHOLM's wife was Martha REYNOLDS, daughter of Mary & John REYNOLDS of Marshall Co., MS. In August of 1836 she married Richard BYRD in Marshall Co., MS, they had one known son named Michael BYRD. Martha died c1846, her father John REYNOLDS was appointed guardian of the 2 CHISHOLM children Daniel & Mary Jane. Mary Jane, age 15, is found on the 1850 Marshall Co., MS census in the household of her grandmother Mary REYNOLDS.
Mary Jane CHISHOLM was the 4th wife of Maj. Asa Evans Stratton, Sr. He was from Massachusetts, married the first time in Jasper Co., GA. His last 3 marriages were all in Holly Springs, Marshall Co., MS & I believe these 3 women were related, he outlived all 4.
Maj. Stratton's second wife was Amanda Ann GIBBONS, widow of unknown WOODS. She was the daughter of John C. and Jane B. GIBBONS of Marshall Co., MS. His third wife was Caroline Ann Epps STEGER (or STEAGER), widow of William Pearson, also of Marshall Co., MS.
Any connections, leads or clues toward the family of John Calvin CHISHOLM would be appreciated. Of course, I'm always glad to share the info I have.

Looking for information on GEORGE W. CHISM or CHISHOLM, born around 1860 in
GA. He married an Elminia Yarbrough. I think George's parents might be
James and Ellender Chism. Would anyone have a George in their databases
from around this time frame?
Thanks
Tami

My brick wall is my great great grandfather Thomas. I have no birth date or place on him. I do know that he married Julia Stribling.
In an obit of Julia, written by a grandchild, it states that she "married Thomas D. Chisham of Indiana." Whether he was born in Indiana, or just residing there at the time, I don't know.
It also states that his maternal grandparent was "Thomas Dinwiddie from Scotland." This leads me to wonder if perhaps Thomas' middle name was Dinwiddie?
Thomas and Julia had the following children: James, Sarah Jane Winnifred (died at the age of 4), Margaret Ann Chisham Hodges, Annette Jane Chisham Childers, and Napolean Bonaparte.
Their son Napolean Bonaparte Chisham, was born July 17, 1849 in Jackson County, Missouri. He married Mary Harriet Cornelia Johnson.
He died December 8, 1935 in Wichita, Kansas, and is buried in Toronto, Kansas.
Children of Napolean and Mary were: Milton, Kansas, Dell, Harry, Carrie, Joe, Fred (my grandfather), and Etta.
The story goes that Thomas left wife and family behind to go in search of gold in California. He left his family, a team, and a wagon with Julia's mother just south of Independence, Missouri.
He then became an ox driver in part of a bull train that left Westport, Missouri in the spring of 1853. In the time after he left, the family received two letters. One letter came from Salt Lake City, and later one from Stockton, California.
A gentleman by the name of "Mr. Overton", who had been out west returned and told the family the last time he saw Thomas, Thomas was headed for Mud Springs. That was the last anyone ever heard of him.

Hello All,
My wife cometh from Ye Olde Chisholm clan through Ben Frank Chisholm, and
his father before him John Red Buck Chisholm, and his father before him John
Chisholm. Ben Frank and Didama Boren had a child Jennie Nancy who was my
wife's ggrandmother. Jennie married Tom Davis, had a son Tom who had a
daughter Willie B. who had Ms Shirley, whom I refer to vaiously as Queen
Shirley (harks back through the Norwoods to King Harold) the Chief (harks
back to Cherokee blood) Boss ( she runs the family!) So I know her as Queen
Shirley the Chief Boss! Anyway, that's the Chisholm line for us and we're
still tracing roots like mad. Of course my side of the family is as pure as
the driven snow, but my oh my those Chisholm folks - tsk tsk - all sorts of
closets!
Best wishes to you all in your searching, Ron Crooker
I hope that this Chisholm information may help someone.

My Chisholm's came from Inverness Scotland. I traced my roots back to
John Carnegie Chisholm who married Williamina Manson on 12/26/1965 and
moved to Dundee Scotland. That is were their daughter, my grandmother
Mary Ann Chishom meet my grandfather Peter Duncan Chisholm and had three
children, Dora, Helen & William. They then moved to Boston and my dad
Duncan Chisholm Goodale was born on 2/14/14. He meet my mom Evelyn
Levisee in Reno were they were married on 8/26/48. I came along on
their 3rd anniversary and my name is Randie Ann Goodale-Casias. My son
is Cary James Casias and he was born on 9/24/90. I still have family
living in Boston my cousins that are the daughters & sons of William
Goodale.
I'm very interested in finding out were the "Carnegie" part of my
Grandfather's name came into play. I'm thinking that maybe "Carnegie"
may of been my great grandmother maiden name, because a lot of the
family have used the maiden name of their mother's as the middle name,
as in my dad Duncan Chisholm Goodale.
I'd love to hear from others that had family from that area of Scotland.
Randie
Welcome to all the new Chisholm researchers that have signed on
recently. We hope you will find help from other Chisholm fanatics (well,
more or less fanatic) that are members of the list.
Recently, a list member sent an inquiry to me relating to a slave that
had been the "property" of a Chisholm. I wish she would post her
question to the entire list.
And everyone should take up the cause for greater Chisholm knowledge by
posting a message to the list telling us all what particular Chisholm
interest you have and what Chisholm, if any, you descend from.
Here goes for me: My great-great grandfather was John (Redbuck)
Chisholm, born 1779 in Virginia and died in Lauderdale Co. Alabama in
1861. He had many children, one of which was my great grandather, Enoch
Parsons Chisholm, a one-time circuit riding Methodist preacher in early
Texas and later a successful stockman and farmer in Kaufman and Rockwall
Counties in Northeast Texas. The town of Chisholm is named for him.
So, come on everyone, hit a lick and give us the low down on your
Chisholm interests. This applies to everyone, especially newcomers to
the list but everyone should post a note about your interests. I know
there are some real Chisholm experts on the list so everybody get busy
and let us hear from you.
