I second that wow! And that is a lot to chew on.
Well I wonder...it wouldn't be impossible that two different Chisham's
married into two different Dinwiddie familys.
I still think we may find something on Thomas, possibly going through the
Dinwiddies.

Ladies,
I have had a breakthrough! Stella Fitzpatrick kindly responded to my
snail mail letter yesterday. She sent me a typed version of wills,
probate, and deed information that shows the connection between James E.
Chism b. 1819, m. to Sarah Ann Webb 8-25-1843, d. after 1860,
occupation-farmer. James' father is indeed Uriel (or Urial-called
"Riley") Chisham, b. 8-15-1799 in Orange Co VA to Benjamin F.
(??Franklin??) Chisham who was b. 2-3-1776 in VA m. to Elizabeth Beckham
on 8-27-1796 at St Thomas Parish, Orange Co VA. Elizabeth was
b6-21-1775 in VA to Henry and Elizabeth Beckham, and she died 6-21-1862
in Orange Co IN buried at Scott Cemetery.
Stella sent me transferred copies of Benjamin Chisham's will naming
James E Chism as an heir. Orange Co History has a list of their
children including Uriel, Nancy G., William Walter, and Frances. They
moved from VA about 1805 to Jassamine Co KY and on to Orange Co IN in
1831. James and Sarah are last in Orange Co IN on the 1860 census, I
believe they came to Howard Co IN soon after that.
Stella does not have a computer and had gotten stuck at Benjamin, not
ever being able to find his parents in Orange Co VA. Any clues on that?
For anyone interested, she listed all the source information.
Anne
Urial and James are both listed in the 1850 census in Orange County, IN, but
not as father and son. Urial has 10 children, is age 50 and James is age 31
with 2 children and a Martin L (age 6 mos.) is one of them. In the 1860 census
James is 42 and has 5 children, Martin is 11. Urial is not in the 1860
census but his wife Katharine is with 2 of her children. James could possibly be a
son of Urial but it seems questionable.

I hate to add one more James to all this confusion but feel I must.
I started searching the newspapers for Atchison, KS and found a James
Chisham. He was a city councilman for a number of years, and so far I haven't found
much about him except that he was married. THis period was about 1878 to at
least 1885. I am still searching, doubt if he is a direct line but probably
some kind of relative.
Julia's oldest was named James and he died in Atchison in 1909 but I know he
is not the city councilman, wrong age. Will let you know when I find
something.
