Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Boy, I can't hardly believe that the gathering is only four weeks from
this weekend! It's gonna sneak on up here fast!
I have been busy, busy this time of year. Trying to get stuff done
outside, back to driving a bus, and keeping up with weather. The genealogy
has taken a back seat for the time being. But I need to start trying to get
some things taken care of and wrapped up.
And when hot weather sets in, I'll be back to seclusion inside staying
out of it, so will be digging for those roots again, and being more active.
And will get back to work on the website.
And Bob, I just got to thinking, did I write you and thank you??? I got
the things you sent, and I thought I had written you, but now I'm not sure I
did? My brain is mush.
I'd like to start hearing from folks who are coming, so I can begin to
get a head count.
I'll provide a continental breakfast beginning at 8 a.m. on June 2nd.
At noon, a group of ladies have offered to provide a catered lunch for
$5/person, so that we are free to do other things. There is also a deli at
one of the grocery stores that has pretty good fixins, and some fast food
places, if you'd prefer that route. Whether you go with the catered lunch,
or want to go get something else, we can still all eat together.
In the afternoon we'll do our cemetery/homeplace tour. I have got to find
out where the homeplaces were. If you have a particular grave site, or
homeplace that you would like to visit, let me know so I can get it listed
and tracked down.
In the evening we'll have a cookout. That one needs some fine tuning. If
anyone would like to donate a bowl of potato salad or something, please let
me know. I'll see what we have and what we need, and go from there.
Also, if anyone has an ice chest that they can bring along, we could
probably use some extras. The weather will likely be plenty warm, and we'll
probably go through a lot of ice. We may want to ice down some food too. I
have two, and I have two 5-gallon water jugs that I can use to make tea and
kool-aide.
I think I will have use of a large coffee maker that day too.
The one thing that I had hoped so much to have, and looks like I won't,
is the copy machine. I had hoped to be able to buy one, but I don't think
it's gonna happen. So I will check around on the availability of copy
machines in town.
I'll be picking up the key for the Porter building, late Friday afternoon
before the Co-op closes. Then I will head out to the building and start
setting up tables and chairs, and anything else I can get ready ahead of
time. So if anybody comes in, that's where you'll likely find me, at least
for a while.
If you have small drink jugs that you'd like to bring with you on the
tour, that might not be a bad idea either. We'll be gone a while, and I know
I get thirsty. I'll try to load the big jugs as well.
Remember to pass the word around to anyone you can think of. Everyone is
welcome, family, friends, whoever. This is a time for sharing and having
fun.
If there's anything in particular that you would like to see or do, let
me know. This is for you all.
I'll work on the directions to get there and get them out to whoever
needs them. It's really easy to find.
And don't forget that Sunday is the annual Chisham/Kelsey family reunion.
Hopefully this will make it a lot easier for folks who want, to be able to
attend both days.
If I'm forgetting anything, don't be shy about reminding me.
Deah
Can you send the address one more time? I can't get it to come up. Thanks.

And Columbia is not that far from Jackson county. A new family rumor has
it that Thomas returned and was told that Julia had died. Now that doesn't
make any sense to me, but who can say? And that he ended up going to Salt
Lake City and joining the Mormons.
I was so hoping I could make a trip to Jackson county before the reunion
and do some digging around up there. I just don't see how or when I'd make
it though.
Gosh, I am so anxious! I can't wait to see you guys!!

Deah:
Our Thomas D Chisham is the one that sold his bounty warrant to John Byrnes
I'm sure. I sent for his military record, he enlisted October 1837 and
mustered out March 1838. He enlisted at Columbia, not much help there but he
signed Thomas D. Chisham on all the records. The Howard county census shows
a Chisham but I'm not sure what the first initial is, it is hard to read and
that one had too many children to be ours, I think.
Tax season ended Monday so I am now free to pursue a few other activities,
such as genealogy, gardening and sewing.
My sister and I are making arrangements for the trip to Fredonia. We have a
few places to check on the way and one on the way home. It should be really
fun.

The links are so long that they got chopped off at the end. The rest of
the link is there, but I had to finish typing in the last part of it into my
browser. It seems to be cutting it off right after the letter s
