I received another packet from William Clusin whom I have been chatting back
and forth as well as exchanging documents. I haven't had a chance to read in
detail everything he has sent but will let everyone know what he has sent.
He has a geneologist working for him and has very extensive information on
many Chisham's. From a handwriting error long ago his surname was changed
from "Chisum" to "Clusin" I'll keep everyone posted on this. He is trying
to help us piece Thomas Chisham into this whole Chisham network. He is
asking me to send him a copy of Thomas and Julia's marriage bond which I
will do. I am also going to send him the biography of Julia Chisham and any
other information that may be helpful to him. He is descended from "James
Chisham" from Caroline Co. VA. I will see if I can scan the info from
him to the list. Deah, will this work?? Your Kentucky Cousin, Barb
P.s. We got Rick Pitino for our U of L Basketball coach as many of you
probably already know and are tickled to death!!!!!

I don't know of any. But who can tell about these critters?? This might
help somebody with some of their other names too. Since he asked so
politely, I hated to not pass it on and help him out.

I will start on an Easter page for the site soon. What I would like to do
is add some family photos of past Easters, and/or little stories of Easters
past with family. Could also add favorite recipes that anyone tends to use
on Easter. Also family traditions can be done. This is for any of you.
I need material in order to do this. I didn't realize it was sneaking up
so fast. I have a few pictures from bygone Easters, but I don't want it to
just be me, that ain't no fun!
Can you help me out here??? Please??? :O)

Ok, here's the site. I'm still looking for the page. I thought rather than
go back to the page through a search, I'd go directly to the site.

I'm often perplexed in trying to figure out who the George Chisham was,
that was on the 1850 Jackson County, Mo. census with Thomas. His age was 18,
and was listed as being born in Missouri. And where did he go?
Here is a George Chisham in Iowa, age 24 in 1856. Born in Kentucky by the
way, not Missouri. Leastways, that's what it was transcribed as.

One of Ancestry.com's free databases is Jackson County, Missouri
Marriages, 1827-1860. Since I know there were some Chisham, and related
lines there, thought I'd pass this on. Let the hunt begin!

JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI MARRIAGES, 1827-60, VOL. 1
This database contains almost 2,000 marriage records from Jackson
County, Missouri between 1827 and 1860. It was compiled by long-time
genealogical researcher Elizabeth Prather Ellsberry and is part of a
growing set of Ancesty.com databases called the Ellsberry Collection.
Researchers will find, at a minimum, the names of both bride and
groom and the marriage date.
Source Information: Ancestry.com. "Jackson County, Missouri
Marriages, 1827-60, Vol. 1." [database online] Provo, UT:
Ancestry.com, 2001. Original data: Ellsberry, Elizabeth Prather,
comp. "Jackson County, Missouri Marriage Records, 1827-60, Vol. 1."
Chillicothe, MO: Elizabeth Prather Ellsberry, circa 1965.

No they're getting confused by that one source that has Julia marrying a
Frank Chisham. It's on the family history thingy. It's all wrong. They
have "Frank" listed instead of "Thomas" and they're all wrong. I've seen it
before too. Whoever posted it w/Frank is wrong. She married Thomas in
1837. I have a copy of the original marriage bond.
And you do too. That other Julia Ann married John Chisham and they had a
son Andrew Chisham. Not sure where they fit in. This John could be a
brother of Thomas who knows. I promise this Frank stuff is wrong. Thomas
may have had a brother named Frank but he didn't marry Julia.

Subject: John N. Hodges
I had an e-mail from by cousin Arba Jo. She is tied up with planning a reunion for her husbands side of her family, so it may be awhile before she is able to correspond.
Please feel free to use the information that I sent you as you would like.
I have a little bit more information on John N. Hodges that I will pass on to you.
John was in the Cherokee Strip land run in 1889 in Northern Oklahoma. He staked a claim of a parcel of land in Garfield County. He later married Maud Emma Smith. They spent some of their early married life in Oregon. They returned to Oklahoma for a period of time, then moved to Dimmit County, Texas. My mother was born there. After a brief period of time they moved back to Southwestern Oklahoma. They finally returned to Garfield County, Oklahoma prior to the birth of their youngest child who was born in 1922. They remained there for the rest of their lives. They raised wheat ,oats and cattle on a 320 acre farm located 3 miles east of Covington, Oklahoma
I plan to be able to provide for details in a few weeks.
My wife and I are leaving in the morning to travel to Houston for about 2 1/2 weeks to visit some of our children.
We live in Southern Colorado now. I will be checking my e-mail on the web from time to time.
I would like to attend the reunion in June but it is doubtful that we will be able to come. We hope to be in Covington, Oklahoma about that same time to attend a Memorial day reunion of the surviving children of John N. and Maud Hodges. Four of the children are still living. Three have passed on. The oldest living is 90 years old and the youngest is now 78.
You probably already have this information. I came across some Bowman/Smith Ancestor files last December that had the ancestor line of Stribling/Colclough back to the 1300's. I have all of my genealogy all packed in my van ready to leave in the morning. I don't remember which web site I found this information. If you don't have it, let me know and I will try to foreword it to you.

Subject: Thomas and Julia
Thank you for your reply to my message on the Chisham Surname Board. As I had mentioned, William C. Hodges and Margaret Anne Chisham were my great grandparents. I will have to change our family group sheets to show Thomas D. Chisham as the husband of Julia Ann Stribbling. I will give what little information we have on a Frank Chisham. Birth abt. 1813, Kentucky, Married abt 1837 Kentucky, died before 1854 in Independence, Jackson County, MO. Maybe he will fit in somewhere someday.
I visited your family web site on the internet. I am very impressed with the enormous amount of information contained there. I was particularly interested in the Chloe Ann and Winnie Hodges Reser Family site. There was a picture of a hand written note from Uncle J.N.H. to his niece Aggie. J.N.H. would be my Grandfather, John Napoleon Hodges, the sixth child of William C. Hodges and Margaret Ann Chisham.
I can give you the correct dates for John Napoleon Hodges: born:9 May 1871, El Dorado, Butler Co. Kansas.
Married Maud Emma Smith, 21 Dec. 1898 in Perry, Nobel Co., Oklahoma, Died:24 April 1956, Guthrie, Logan Co, Okla,
Buried: Hayward, Garfield Co, Okla. I spent many happy days visiting with them on their farm in Garfield County, Okla.
We show some slight differences in some dates for J.N.H's brothers & sisters, but we can check that out later.
I have a cousin, Arba Jo Pope, who lives in Garfield County, Okla. She is also working on this line when she can. Much of my information came from her. She has original pictures of William C. Hodges and Margaret Ann Chisham. Also has an original picture of Margaret Ann and 7 of her fully grown children. William C. was not in the picture. He must have died before the picture was taken. Picture was possibly taken after William C.'s funeral.
I will send my cousin your e-mail address and the address for the family site that you have on the internet. You may hear from her in the near future.
Bob & Mary Hayward
I just made a correction and added some information on William and
Margaret Chisham Hodges page. I received an email from one of their great
grandsons!! Yippee!
Anyway, his grandfather was John Hodges. He gave me some additional
information on John, and guess what? John's middle name was Napoleon!
Now, here is something I'm going to throw out to you all. Does anyone
know anything about a Frank Chisham, who was born in Kentucky and lived in
Jackson county, Missouri?? Hmmm??? This guy is following the same track, in
the same years as Thomas did. Could this be a potential lead???
Deah
Take a look at this post. I posted a reply. I wonder if the record of
this Frank and Julia, is that other Julia Ann??? There were two Julia Ann's.
This is really interesting. I hope I hear from him.
Sandy, do you know who this is? Barb, I'm trying to remember what you
said about this other Julia. I got to do some digging.
Deah

I finally got two more pages up. I had to fight my server to stay
connected to get it done. It took forever! Now it's almost 3 in the morning.
One page is on William and Margaret Chisham Hodges. The other is about
their daughter Chloe Ann, her sister Winnie, and the Reser family. A
touching story to think about.
I did a little tweaking on some information on Julia's page regarding
marriage dates for her mother Lucy. Now I'm going to bed! <BG>
Nighty night,
Deah
