First, I have been having this niggling about where Thomas and Julia
Chisham went after they were married in 1834.
Most everything we see relates to Jackson county, Missouri, and that's
where their kids were born. I guess ??
I'm feeling that they didn't go directly to Jackson county. I need input,
brain pickin time! Do we know for certain that the children were all born in
Jackson county? According to the 1850 Jackson county census, James was 13.
That would have put him being born in 1837, three years following the
marriage.
And supposedly Thomas was in that war for a time. Where was Julia?
And who was George Ell that was on the 1850 census with them?? Ahhhh!!!!
Ok, that's more than two things and I'm still on the first one.
Secondly, I have a photocopy of a picture of Annetta Jane Chisham
Childers, that Lucille gave me. I scanned it and so anybody who wants, let
me know and I'll send it. Annetta Jane was Napoleon's sister who married
Hiram Childers.
I'm reworking the marriage page. I really wasn't quite satisfied with the
graphics on it, and found some I like much better. In the process I noticed
an error on the date for Daniel Johnson and Mary Hamilton. I also
discovered, actually filed in a folder where it should be, a copy of their
marriage license. I also can scan that and send it if anybody would like it.
I'm not sure how the scanning will go on the text, but I'll sure give it a
whirl. Daniel and Mary were the parents of Mary Harriet Cornelia, who
married Napoleon. Boy and I see where those Johnson's sure liked four names!
<BG>
Ok, so that's way more than two things, I'll shut up now! <GBG>

Listmom needs to go to bed!
Oh boy. Guess it's about time for me to crawl out of hiding. :O) You know how the creative types get when they're in a working frenzy!
I have done some work on the family site and it's looking a little different. I redid the main page. Then I moved the update information to a new page all it's own.
Then I moved the information on the upcoming reunion to a new page of it's own too.
And I have added a new page special for the upcoming holiday. It's wishes from me to you. And..........it has a special mystery photo!!! See if you can guess who it is??? <BG>
I also added a neat graphic to the links page, that carries a good message. All in all, I've been busy, and I actually got everything uploaded in the evening instead of the wee hours of the morning. Although I did do another nearly all nighter working on this last night.
I hope this gets through, as I'm kind of wondering about my mail. I haven't gotten any mail for the past few hours. And honestly, that is NOT normal! I generally have a steady flow of mail. Hmmm....Well if I get this sent, and I don't get it back, I'll know there's a problem. I'm not too sure I'm getting all my mail anyhow.
Now, tomorrow it's back to work on digging for ancestors. (After I clean house....<BG>)
Ok, this thing set in the outbox for some time cause it wouldn't send. Now let's see what happens, hopefully the mail is starting to work again.
Deah
May you walk in sunshine.
Boy, I don't know if I'm crazy, or just don't know when to quit. It's almost 4 in the morning, but I just got another page up on the Chisham Family & Other Kin site. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~chisdid/
It's Surnames - The Who's, Where's, and When's, so to speak. It has information on some of the family lines, such as who married who, their children, birth and death dates. It is not yet finished by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a start. I still have a whole lot of family surnames to cover yet.
Names covered so far are, CORTELYOU, BARRICKLOW (VAN BARKELO), JOHNSON, HAMILTON, & BEATY. There are some additional surnames mentioned within these families in regards to marriages. And I'm sure as I keep going through things and getting feedback, there will be additional information to the ones I have listed so far.
I have also added the search engine to this page for easy access. The way the page is set up may not be the best way of doing it, but until such time as my brain becomes more html literate, this is the best I can do....sigh. I have fought converting FTM files into html files way too long. So if you all can deal with it set up in this manner, I will be ever so grateful! And I really want to start getting more of the nitty gritty of this thing up, so the information is available.
Now I think before I fall face first into my keyboard, I'll go to bed. <BG>.

May you walk in sunshine.
Hello gang
I haven't recieved anything so far. This gentleman's name is William
Clusin and he sent me an email a week or so ago in response to a querie I
had posted to the Scott Co. Ky Genweb page. His geneologist Jeanne Strong
gave him my email address. I have sent him several things as well so it
should be one day next week hopefully. He is descended from James
Chisham/Chisum from Virginia and his grandfather through a handwriting error
changed the spelling to "Clusin" I'll let everyone know as soon as I
receive anything!!!!!

Added more information to Julia's page. Includes author of her biography, will and other information on some members of her family. Including some information on the mysterious Hadley A. Head who had signed the marriage bond.
Added the image of Thomas and Julia's marriage bond to Thomas's page, and added a couple of more marriages to the marriage page.

Hi list,
I am home from San Antonio and trying to get caught up. I am having major problems getting my email. I even sent a test message to myself, and have not gotten it yet. So, if you send something, and I don't answer back, it may be that I did not receive it. I have gone through all the mail that I have been able to get so far, but I know there is stuff not coming through. Argh!!
Keep your fingers crossed, we may....I hope, I hope, I hope, .....have some new developments involving the mystery of who Thomas Chisham's parents were. I'm almost afraid to hold my breath though.
Barb has made contact with a gentleman that has a lot of information relating to some of the family, and we're feeling like it is Thomas's family. It's looking hopeful anyway. So Barb is waiting to hear back from this gentleman again.
Now let's see if this goes through, and if I get it myself.

Hello gang,
I am busy today trying to get laundry all done up, cages cleaned, and ready to go this evening.
It is so nice today, a little cool, but very nice. I'd much rather be outside! The sun is shining, and the clothes are drying on the line.
Chickens are having a ball scrathing in the dirt, and even finding some green shoots to pick on.
I'll be leaving this evening, staying all night with Ashley, then we will head to San Antonio early, early in the morning. Looks like we'll have good travel weather too.
Will leave San Antonio Wednesday morning, as Crystal has to be at work at 8 a.m. on Thursday. Crystal is Ashley's friend that also is movng to San Antonio, and my second daughter, LOL. We have somehow managed to adopt each other, and she calls me "Mom."
Anyhow, I should be back late Wednesday night, so if you write and don't hear from me till Thursday or something, that's why.
If something comes up that needs attention with the list or anything, send an email and flag it priority. I know I will be overwhelmed with email by the time I get back, and it will take me a while to get through it all. But I will check first for any priority mails.
Will give you all a holler when I get back. I

I don't normally send virus warning messages to the lists as I don't want to encourage a barrage of hoaxes and such. However I am going to send this message that I received from McAfee this morning. Please check with whoever you have your virus program with for further details, and information.
I was told by one person that they keep their addresses in a seperate folder on their desktop, as many viruses target the address book. Might be something to think about.
Deah
Dear McAfee.com Dispatch Subscriber:
W97M/Melissa@MM is a macro virus for Word97 that spreads via the email program MS Outlook. This virus creates an Outlook object that sends an infected document to the first 50 addresses in the address book.
The email comes with the subject line "Important Message From" Application.UserName, with a body text of "Here is that document you asked for ... don't show anyone else ;-)" and a document attached. The content of the document is a list of pornographic Web sites.
First discovered on March 26, 1999, this virus is now in a new file format for Word9X / Office2001 for Mac. It is specific to Mac Office2001 and can infect a host system running Office98 (also for Mac) or Office2000. This virus will infect Office97 systems that have been updated to SR1 update and above.
PC Users: This variant can infect users of Windows Office 97 or 2000 if they receive the email message from a Mac user.

There are some Chisholm's, but look too at all the Childers. Do you suppose any of these are related to Annette Jane Chisham Childers?

Got this information from Carolyn, and thought I would pass it on.

My goodness! There is the website for what was the Westfork Baptist Church.
http://www.fbc-raytown.org/
This is where the Chism's were I posted about. I also notice the name Beckham. That is a name that I have come across in doing searches on the Chishams/Chisms. This is only one page of their history. I'm still looking through the site. This is maybe going to be a great resource.

Thanks to Barb I have the scanned image of Thomas D. Chisham and Julia Ann Stribling's marriage bond. If anyone wants it and hasn't gotten it, email me and I'll send it to you. As you know we can't sent attachments through the list here.
Deah
May you walk in sunshine.
I think sometime back I posted about some Chism's that were members of the Westfork Baptist Church in Jackson county, Missouri. I have a little bit more information on the church.
A small group of families from the Kentucky, Tennesee, the Carolina's and Virginia area, came together to worship on December 6, 1842. In so doing, they organized a new church near Wray's blacksmith shop.
The first gatherings were at the home of Albert Brooking. Originally the church was called the "West Fork of Little Blue Church." This is in the area that is now Raytown, Missouri.
In June of 1846, construction of the first building began, the contract being given to two of Daniel Boone's sons. In April of 1847 the first worship was held in the new building, and the name of the church was changed to "West Fork Baptist Church."
Howard Chism, received letter March 18, 1852.
Sarah Chism, December 1852
Mary Ann Chism, 1852, died 1853
Julia Chism, August 31, 1843
Thomas Chism 1842
Now note here, my gr gr grandparents Thomas and Julia are not spelled "Chisham", but "Chism." Also they were some of the founding members of the church. There were other relatives who also were founding members. i.e. DeHonney, and Stribling. Julia's maiden name was Stribling, and her mother's maiden name was DeHonney.
I do believe all these Chism's to be family though.
Deah
Number two of Annette Jane Chisham Childers' recipes.
Deah
May you walk in sunshine.
Annette Chisham Childers Cake Recipe
(milkless, eggless, butterless)
Boil 3 minutes:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup water
1cup seeded raisins
1/3 cup lard
1/4 tsp. grated nutmeg
1 pinch salt
When cool, stir in 1 tsp. soda dissolved in warm water, 2 cups flour in which 1 tsp. baking powder has been sifted. Bake in a loaf in a slow oven.
Now you may ask why in the world I am sending a cookie recipe? Remember some time back I suggested also sending traditional family recipes. These kinds of things also shed light on the people who we seek to know.
This is the first of several recipes I will be sending, that were ones that Annette Jane Chisham Childers used to make. She was a sister to Napoleon, James Alfred, and Margaret.
Annette Jane Chisham Childers Oatmeal Cookies.
1 cup shortening (butter and lard halved).
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup sour milk
2 cups flour
2 1/2 cups oatmeal
1 cup nuts
1 cup raisins
1 tsp. soda
( Grind raisins, nuts, and oatmeal.)
Another of Annette Jane's Oatmeal Cookie recipes:
1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 cup sour milk
1 package raisins
A bit more oatmeal than flour, until quite stiff to drop.

Ok, here is a bit of information from the 1915 Bourbon County, Kansas Census, Fort Scott. This is a great example of why our ancestors are hard to find.
Lewis, Lemuel, age 53.
............Sabina, age 52.
Schisem, Ada, age 30.
.................Faye, age 11.
.................Dale, age 5.
Here's the catch. Ada, Faye, and Dale were NOT Schisem, they were Chisham. Dale was my father. They apparently were staying with my gr grandfather for some reason.

Am forwarding this bit of information that I sent to my Colclough list. This would be people in Julia Stribling Chisham's line of ancestry.

Subject: [COLCLOUGH] Saint Paul's Register
Am going through some copies of information I just received from a sister. There are some pages from "Saint Paul's Parish Register." Can somene tell me where that was?
On the pages I am finding the following:
M. Joel Stripling and Hester Colclough, September 25, 1723.
Note: We have known him as Joel Stribling.
B. Colclough, son of Joel and Hester Stribling. (torn and mutilated), circa 1728-1729
Note: now here it is spelled with the b And I am wondering about the torn and mutilated???? Can someone shed more light on this. I take it to be in reference to the child. And I'm wondering how severe? Just kind of curious. Colclough was one of my ancestors, that is who I am supposed to be descended from.
B. Hester, daugher of Joel and Hester Stribling, April 5, 1732.
B. Bradford, son of joel and Hester Stribling, January 11, 1735/36
B. Mary, daughter of Joel and Hester Stribling , November 4, 1738
Note: It says that Joel died March 19, 1737/8. If it was in 37, would have been very shortly after Hester became pregnant with Mary.
D. Joel Stribling, son of Joel and Hester Stribling September 27, 1744
M. Hester Stribling and Thomas Lewis Parrat, April 16, 1744. (must have been young Hester???)
M. Cochley (Colclough) Stribling and Mary Hodge, October 6, 1749.
B. John Colclough Stribling, son of Colclough and Frances Stribling, January 5, 1760.
B. Thomas, son of Colclough and Frances Stribling, October 22, 1766.
B. Susanna, daugher of Colclough and Frances Stribling , April 27, 1764.
M. Hester Stribling and Francis Rose, May 31, 1756. ( I take this to be Hester Colclough Stribling?)
B. Benjamin, son of Cochley (Colclough) and Frances Stribling, June 15, 1756
B. Joel, son of Colclough and Frances Stribling , March 8, 1758
B. Thomas, son of Colclough and Frances Stribling, October 22, 1766
B. Mary, daughter of Colclough and Frances Stribling, February 16, 1769
Hope this helps, it sure helped me. Appreciate any feedback on this. There are more names here getting more into the Striblings.

Here's a bit of information from a sister, that she got from our cousin Jean.
Julia Stribling was a member of the Baptist Church in Stamping Grounds, Kentucky. (Scott County.) She was baptised in 1833, and dismissed in August of 1834. That was the same year that she married Thomas D. Chisham.
There were other "Chisms" (notice the variation in spelling) who were also members of that church. Might be something good to look into.
