Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Was doing some searching tonight, and one of those lightbulbs turned on. Check this Orange County, Indiana site.
http://www.usgennet.org/usa/in/county/orange/census_c.htm
Now if you'll scroll down you will find several Chishams. Ok, now I also noticed there are several Childers listed as well.
Let's back up here. Thomas and Julia Chisham's daughter Annette married one Hiram Childers. I dug through some of the Childers stuff that was given me, that I'm still trying to sort out. I did find that Hiram's father's name was Richard. And by golly, there is a Richard Childers also on this list.
You know in Julia's bio it makes mention of Thomas being from Indiana. Now after looking further into these Childer papers I have, I discover that Hiram's older siblings were indeed born in Indiana, and one for certain in Orange County.
Ok, let's plop out a theory...or maybe question.... :O)
Thomas was born in Kentucky, married in Kentucky, but yet when he married Julia, he was supposed to be from Indiana. Is it possible that Thomas's parents moved to Indiana, maybe he went with them for a time, and then returned to Kentucky to marry Julia?
Could one of these Chisham's listed on this page be Thomas's father and/or mother? Some of the Childers and Chishams may have traveled the same circles, as many did. I believe some of the Childers also ended up coming to Kansas.

Boy, you know, I have a first cousin in Colorado that mentioned having a
Bible. She was going to check it for me, but keeps forgetting. I don't know
who it originally belonged to, now I'm thinking I'm going to email her again
and tell her to get with it! LOL!! Now I am curious! It may not have
anything new in it, but I have no idea. As far as I understand, it belonged
to my grandmother Ada Chisham, but whether or not it started with her or was
handed down from hers or the Chisham side I don't know. If it was something
passed down, it could have come from the Lewis side. But, since grandpa
Chisham died before her, it could have come from his side. That does it!!
I'm emailing her right now!!!!! :O)

Here's something that has been suggested in regards to posting births and marriages to the boards. Post them on the Bible Records board. Makes sense, that is usually the information found written in Bibles.
Could also put short death notices there too I'd think. I've wondered about that too, such as information taken from death certificates. Like possibly just the date, time, and cause of death. Or date and place of death. Regular obits should still go on the obit page.
Deah
I do have some photos of some Chisham headstones. Some I have back already, and some are still on a roll of film I need to finish up. If anybody is interested in any of these, email me, and I'll send them to you.
Here's what I have back already:
James Fredrick Chisham
Ada Grace (Lewis) Chisham (wife of James Fredrick)
Minnie L. Chisham (second wife of Joseph P. Chisham)
Joseph P. Chisham
Ora A. Chisham (first wife of Joseph P.)
Julia A. Chisham (wife of Thomas Chisham)
Napolean B. Chisham
Mary H. Chisham (first wife of Napolean B.)
Mary Adella Chisham Findley
Ethel Findley Sallee
Hazle Findley Willoughby
Smiles are contagious.

Well sometimes you miss what's right in front of your face.....leastways I've been known to. I had a photocopy made from a notebook at the local library of a page that had an obit for my maternal grandmother Maude Fulbright.
Being focused on reading hers, I failed to notice another one on the very same page, that of Mrs. Dell Findley. Got two for the price of one and didn't even know it! <BG>
I will go post the information from her obit on the boards now.
Red cheeked again,
Deah

Hi Gang!
I realized through trial and error, that if one wishes to reply to something posted to the list, and they want it to go TO the LIST, you will need to hit "reply all."
If you just hit "reply", it will only go back to the original sender of the message, which is great if that's the only one you want to reply to. By hitting "reply all", it will show both the sender, and the list as "To." You can just clear the sender's address, so they don't get your reply twice. Boy I'm a real master with words, LOL. Hope I didn't confuse you all.
It can be set up so that all replies automatically go back to the list, but I'm really hesitant to do that after reading up on some potential problems that could evolve from doing it that way. And it is not really recommended to do that.
So, if you all don't mind trying it this way, I think we can work it out. See I keep learning something new everyday with this thing, LOL.
If any of you want to use this post to try it out, feel free to do so. I don't think there will be any problems at all. If you already knew this stuff, feel free to ignore me, ...... chuckle.
Best to ya,
Deah

Aha! Thank you a bunch Jean! Now we're getting somewhere! I wonder then
if Mary Catherine was married to the Porter? And the "Hall" in the obit,
must have been Howell instead. My source for the name of James' wife being
Binkley came from Julia's biography.
I had seen a land patent issued to a John W. Chisham, but it didn't
register till just today who it was. It was issued to him in Baca county,
Colorado, April 15, 1891.
Here's the BLM site where you can search for patents. I went in and did a
search for all states, Patentee last name Chisham. It comes up with several,
including Thomas.
