Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Just a note to let you know that if you try to view any of the Freepages
websites and are getting a 404 message, ....The Freepages server is down for
maintenance temporarily. Bout scared myself when I went to check my pages,
and they weren't there...... :O)

I am still struggling with getting the pedigree information up without
the syntax errors. I will keep on it. You can get a sneak preview of a page
in process following the page on my family. But, I have not added it to the
links page yet. It still has more to be added to it first.
Tiss, here's where you can help too. You're the specialist on this one.
Also, think I'll work on going ahead and putting up a page of assorted
pictures that I had been saving back to go on individual pages.
I can always move them to the appropriate page as I get them done. It
will at least help get a little bit more information up and available in
the meantime.
Ok, now for what I did get done tonight. I updated some of the
information on the home page regarding the reunion. And added a little extra
something. Will give you something to think about, :O)
I have been feeling pretty ragged the last few days, so my productivity
hasn't been the greatest. Am having a lot of pain in my chest again. Was
only able to sleep for 1 1/2 hours last night. I'm in the middle of changing
doctors, but the new one can't see me till February. However, his office
staff said, that if it gets too bad, just go to ER. They were supposed to
check my gall bladder thoroughly after I got out of the cardiac unit three
years ago...ain't ever happened. So, I think it's time for a change.
Barb, I am going to go ahead and send you a couple of pictures. I'll get
them on that page that I mentioned previously, but wanted you to go ahead
and have them.
If all goes well, or even halfway well, I will have a copy machine
available at the reunion. I'm having a hard time keeping track of who has
what, and I do want everybody to have all the information.
Think that about covers it. Oh yes, Lucille was going to get copies made
of some more information and get them to me. Should have that soon.
I think I am going to have to take these bones to bed.
May you be blessed,

I'm having another slow week, but did get a few things done. I did some
editing on the pages, with some additions in particular to the main page in
regard to copyright and graphics.
I sure don't object to folks using the information for themselves, that
is why I started this project. However, I do have a problem with those that
harvest information then want to turn around and sell it.
Some personal works should be copyrighted as well. Those things that do
not fall under the guidelines of public information, and were made, created,
or authored by an individual family member, deserve credit. Gee, who would
have thought this could be so much fun! LOL! I do enjoy it though.
I do feel a need to try to protect the family and those who have
contributed to this project, and at least discourage pilfering. I can't stop
anybody from taking from the site, but if I do my part, and they should
decide to pilfer, then the sin is on their head.
Also added the little bit of Church information on Thomas and Julia's
pages. The information on Thomas's page also includes the other
Chisham's/Chism's that were listed with them.
If I don't start feeling better pretty soon, I won't get anything done!
Yuck! I am working on a descendancy page. Still having trouble with syntax
errors when converting it. Ahhhh!!!!
I hope to sometime in the future be able to add a search engine to the
site. Am trying to look into that now.
Guess that's about all the damage I can do today.
May you be blessed,

Ok kids, I did it! I started another list! This list is with e groups and
is an open forum list for family and friends. It's called
FunyfarmsFamilyHearth. It basically is a "by invitation" list, but I welcome
anyone to join that wants to just share, chit chat, and have fun. And
speaking of chit chat, we have our own chat room as well.
All I ask, is that there is no profanity, vulgarity, or slamming etc.
This is a clean, family oriented list for people to discuss any topic they
wish, or just say howdy.
I love my RootsWeb lists, and would not trade them for all the tea in
China, but they are oriented to a single topic. With the e groups list, we
can talk about anything we want, as long as it's clean. And those are MY
rules. If someone posts something a little out of line, I will give them ONE
warning. I don't want to be mean, but this must be something that is
appropriate for anyone, including children to view. I do have my
sensitivities too, believe it or not! If need be, I will moderate the list,
but I really don't think you all will misbehave.
We also have space on the server where we can upload files for other
members to see, and emails to this list can be sent with attachments, or
html.
Now as with any email, please keep in mind that although none of our
people would willingly, or knowingly send a virus, any time attachments go
through, please use caution.
It would be good if you are sending an attachment, to mention that you
are sending it, and what it is, so we know it really is coming from you. If
you follow what I'm saying.
Say for instance if I want to send a picture of my dog, I could tell you
all that I'm sending a pic of my dog. When it comes it should come attached
as dog.jpg or dog.bmp.
I think we can have a lot of fun with this, and this is yet another new
step for me this year. I've crossed a lot of new thresholds in the past few
months! You CAN teach an old dog new tricks! hehe.
I belong to some other e groups lists, and enjoy them a great deal. I
even have some of my weather photos up on one of the weather ones. Including
shots of the tornado that hit our home last June. Finally came to my senses
and grabbed the camera just in time to get some shots as it was lifting and
moving away. I still haven't heard the last of that one! But, that's another
story... :O).
Here's some info if you'd like to join, and also the homepage url if you
would like to just chat. You will have to become a member to chat. That's
another way of helping keep out trouble.
You are all welcome to use the chat room anytime you like. Oh and there
is also a calendar on our homepage.....can list events.....like birthdays,
<GBG>.
Here's the info you will need if you are interested, and come on in so I
don't get lonesome!

LOL, another late night, but I'm fixing to call it quits. Had a great
day, but am ready to test my pillows.
I want to ask you all something. I have had a thought tossing around the
far recesses of my feeble little brain, and want some feedback.
I have 13 mailing lists now, and am thinking about maybe another one, a
little different. Actually it would be kind of like the fibro list in a
way. Open discussion and sharing, but for any topic and for anybody. Mainly
I'm thinking along the lines of a "Friends and Family" kind of thing.
This would not be a RootsWeb list, but with e-groups. Also with a list
from there, you can send attachments, or use html emails. The downside is as
with emails from any other source, being careful about attachments. The good
thing about RootsWeb is that it filters things like that out.
Also, along with the e-groups list, you can have a chat room, and you are
allowed a certain amount of server space where you can upload files for
sharing.
As an example, one weather related e-group I'm with, has a number of
weather and such photos on their page. And some of them are mine! LOL!
I'm thinking I'd like to have a list where we are not limited to a topic
so much as we are with a lot of the Rootsweb lists. Now I am not knocking
RootsWeb! In fact, I'm a strong supporter of RootsWeb. And I like the idea
of having a chat room too.
The way I understand it, you can be listed as "private" and not placed in
e-groups directory. So, this would be more of a "word of mouth" type thing.
Hope I'm making sense. My brain went to sleep about 10 minutes ago, LOL.
I don't know if Webtv users can use the chat room though. I'm gonna have
to look into that. I'd just kinda like to get a feel of what you all think.
May you be blessed,

Thanks to some folks help, I found this printable form for the 1810 census.
The scanned image of the Jessamine county one doesn't show the top, so you
don't know what is what with the columns. You can print this form off and
fill it in, to see how many of who was in the household.

Evening,
I'm trying to get caught up on all my mail, but before I forget I want to
ask something. Does anyone know anything more about the Elizabeth Beckham
that married Daniel Chisham? They are listed as the parents of William W.
Chisham in his bio.
Is it possible that this Daniel Chisham is the same person as Benjamin???
In William's bio it says that Elizabeth Beckham Chisham was born in 1775,
and died June 21, 1862.
Now this is what is really weird. These are the same dates for Benjamin's
wife Elizabeth. So, what is the deal here? Are Daniel and Benjamin, one and
the same?
It says in 1831 they moved to Orange County, Indiana. Interestingly
enough, Benjamin and Elizabeth show up on the census beginning in 1840, but
no Daniel.
Benjamin and Elizabeth were both born in Virginia.
And it gets even better! Daniel Chisham (William's father), was born
February 3, 1777, and died September 30, 1858, in Orange county, Indiana.
Amazing!!! The church records on Benjamin say he was born in 1777 and
died in Septmeber of 1858, in Orange county, Indiana!!!
I knew something had been bugging me about these guys, but why this never
clicked before I have no clue.
Somebody give me some feedback please!!! LOL!

Do any of you recall or have notes on Benjamin/Elizabeth Chisham, and
Daniel/Elizabeth Chisham?
The William W. Chisham that has that bio we keep running across was born
in Jessamine county in 1811 to Daniel and Elizabeth Beckham Chisham.
Benjamin Chisham's wife was also Elizabeth, and she was born the same
year as Daniel's wife. Which by the way, was in Virginia.

am wondering if it was a Dinwiddie. Tiss any clues?

DIARY OF A SNOW SHOVELER
December 8: 6:00 PM. It started to snow. The first snow of the season and
the wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by the window watching
the huge soft flakes drift down from heaven. It looked like a Grandma Moses
Print. So romantic we felt like newlyweds again. I love
snow!
December 9: We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering
every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can there be a more
lovely place in the Whole World? Moving here was the best idea I've ever
had. Shoveled for the first time in years and felt like a boy again. I did
both our driveway and the sidewalks. This afternoon the snow plow came along
and covered up the sidewalks and closed in the driveway, so I got to shovel
again. What a perfect life.
December 12: The sun has melted all our lovely snow. Such a disappointment.
My neighbor tells me not to worry, we'll definitely have a white Christmas.
No snow on Christmas would be awful! Bob says we'll have so much snow by
the end of winter, that I'll never want to see snow again. I don't think
that's possible. Bob is such a nice man. I'm glad he's our neighbor.
December 14: Snow, lovely snow! 8" last night. The temperature dropped
to -20. The cold makes everything sparkle so. The wind took my breath
away, but I warmed up by shoveling the driveway and sidewalks. This is the
life! The snowplow came back this afternoon and buried everything again. I
didn't realize I would have to do quite this much shoveling, but I'll
certainly get back in shape this way. I wish I wouldn't huff and puff so.
December 15: 20 inches forecast. Sold my van and bought a 4x4 Blazer.
Bought snow tires for the wife's car and 2 extra shovels. Stocked the
freezer. The wife wants a wood stove in case the electricity goes out. I
think that's silly. We aren't in Alaska, after all.
December 16: Ice storm this morning. Fell on my rear on the ice in the
driveway putting down salt. Hurt like blue blazes. The wife laughed for an
hour, which I think was very cruel.
December 17: Still way below freezing. Roads are too icy to go anywhere.
Electricity was off for 5 hours. I had to pile the blankets on to stay
warm. Nothing to do but stare at the wife and try not to
irritate her. Guess I should've bought a wood stove, but won't admit it to
her. I hate it when she's right. I can't believe I'm freezing to death in
my own living room.
December 20: Electricity's back on, but had another 14" of the darn stuff
last night. More shoveling. Took all day. Stupid snowplow came by twice.
Tried to find a neighbor kid to shovel, but they said they're too busy
playing hockey. I think they're lying. Called the only hardware store
around to see about buying a snow blower and they're out. Might have another
shipment in March. I think they're lying. Bob says I have to shovel or the
city will have it done and bill me. I think he's lying.
December 22: Bob was right about a white Christmas because 13 more inches of
the white stuff fell today, and it's so cold it probably won't melt till
August. Took me 45 minutes to get all dressed up to go out to shovel and
then I had to potty. By the time I got undressed, pottied and dressed
again. I was too tired to shovel. Tried to hire Bob who has a plow on his
truck for the rest of the winter; but he says he's too busy. I think the
jerk is lying.
December 23: Only 2" of snow today. And it warmed up to 0. The wife wanted
me to decorate the front of the house this morning. What is she...nuts???
Why didn't she tell me to do that a month ago? She says she did but I think
she's lying.
December 24: 6". Snow packed so hard by snowplow, I broke the shovel.
Thought I was having a heart attack. If I ever catch the jerk who drives
that snowplow, I'll drag him through the snow by his ankles. I know he hides
around the corner and waits for me to finish shoveling and then he comes
down the street at a 100 miles an hour and throws snow all over where I've
just been! Tonight the wife wanted me to sing Christmas carols with her and
open our presents, but I was busy watching for the stinkin snowplow.
December 25: Merry Christmas. 20 more inches of slop tonight. Snowed in.
The idea of shoveling makes my blood boil. I hate the snow! Then the
snowplow driver came by asking for a donation and I hit him over the head
with my shovel. The wife says I have a bad attitude. I think she's an
idiot. If I have to watch "It's a Wonderful Life" one more time, I'm going
to strangle her.
December 26: Still snowed in. Why did I ever move here? It was all HER
idea. She's really getting on my nerves.
December 27: Temperature dropped to -30 and the pipes froze.
December 28: Warmed up to above -50. Still snowed in. THE HEIFER is
driving me crazy!!!
December 29: 10 more inches. Bob says I have to shovel the roof or it could
cave-in. That's the silliest thing I ever heard. How dumb does he think I
am?
December 30: Roof caved in. The snow plow driver is suing me for a million
dollars for the bump on his head. The wife went home to her mother . 9"
predicted.
December 31: Set fire to what's left of the house. No more shoveling.
January 8: I feel so good. I just love those little white pills they keep
giving me. Why am I tied to the bed?
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!
May you be blessed,
Deah

There is a book called Clan Chisholm. On page 61 there is some reference
to Napoleon Bonaparte's sister Caroline marrying a Chisholm. My sister had
mentioned this before, but I wasn't sure just what the deal was. But it is
mentioned in the Chisholm lineage. Unfortunately that page was misplaced.
Argh!! I found it in the index though. So if anybody has access to this
book, could you please check on it? It was written by William Garnett
Chisholm or Chisham. My brain is mush tonight.

Ok, here's more stuff. I copied down what was typed on a card that the
church sent to my sister when she asked about Chisham's.
At one time it was called the Westfork Baptist Church. (This is in
Missouri.)
Julia Chism joined 8/31/1843 Dismissed by letter 1850.
Thomas D. Chism joined 1842
Mary Ann joined 1852, died November 1853
Sarah Chism joined December 1852
Howard Chism received letter March 18, 1852 ( I gotta check this date and
make sure I got the right year).
She is going to make some photocopies of a bunch of other stuff she has,
but these were the key things I saw.
I am wondering who Mary Ann was? One of Thomas Dinwiddie's daughters was
a Mary, could this have been Thomas Chisham's mother? Or not, hard to tell,
Mary was a common name. And note how Chisham was spelled...."ism."
I would just about bet there are more church records there. Another place
to dig perhaps.
May you be blessed,

Ok, I finally made it down to my sister's and here is one thing that was
really interesting. She had a copy of a will of one John Alexander Chisham.
Now......whether this is going to lead to anything or not, I just don't know
yet, but it sure is worth looking into further if possible.
She had an extra copy and gave it to me, it's hard to read that
handwriting! But here is at least some names mentioned in the will, and a
little bit on it.
The date was June 1825, and at the top it says July Court 1825. So does
that mean it was probated in July then? And this is in Clarke County,
Kentucky. There is a note at the top saying it was taken from Will Book 5,
page 539.
There are several daughters mentioned, but I'm having a time making all
of them out. There is a Susannah, Nancy, Elizabeth, and a couple more that
I'm gonna try to figure out.
Now here is the really interesting part. The executors named were, his
son Thomas, and his grandson James Dawson. Hmmmmm.....wonder what are the
chances? Here we go again!
May you be blessed,
