Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

James H. Davis and Pelina Chipman are found in the 1860 Haywood Co., TN census p. 452. I think Pelina was George's daughter who he named after his sister Paulina. As far as I know, Paulina never married. It's confusing.
George Chipman evidently had several relationships which did not include marriage.
I can't type a lot so have to quit this thread.

Yes, this is the same William Chipman living in BP Pipkins household in 1860. Bear in mind that George Chipman lived in Madison Co. at one point. William C. Chipman had friends at Ripley, TN, not as far as I know in Madison Co. I think there is little doubt he was George's son.

Have a question for you i find in the 1860 census that there is a william Chipman livein with BP Pipkins and Mary, wondering if this is the same W C Chipman you are lookin for, and he may have been child of Washington instead of George but was wondering what were your thoughs on him i am trying to find his Civil war records.
