Thank you for your reply. Traveled to Cornwall Ct today. Went to Cornwall Hollow and found my great great grandfather( his burial place)- Lewis S. Chipman and his wife Martha Wakeman and a George, Ida, Anna Chipman also buried there.
I found census records that place him in Wallingford CT 8-25-1876 and was a harness maker who lived in Marlbourough and Sheffield Mass, Canaan and Sharon and Cornwall CT. He married Jerusha daughter of Ammi Shaw of New Marlbourough Mass 7/22/1822.
Have not located his burial place yet. I believe I saw it in Goshen Ct with my great aunt a few years back and took pictures. Will dig through them to see. The writing in the records are hard to read in the script and pages being so faded.
Thank you for your direction..
Lisa

I believe his parents are John and Jerusha Chipman. My rational is based on the following reasoning and documents.
Looking through the census records it appears that Lewis Samuel Chipman (b. abt 1841, Connecticut) and his wife Martha are residing in Litchfield county, Connecticut during his lifetime. The 1870 US Federal census is the easiest census with him and Martha. In looking for him in the 1860 US Federal census there is a Lewis S. Chipman, age 19 years born in Connecticut, living with John Chipman (male, age 75 years, born in Connecticut) and Jerusha household is living in Cornwall, Litchfield, Connecticut. It might be plausible that he is their youngest son (the edge of child bearing age for Jerusha).
Looking for Lewis in the 1850 US Federal census results in nothing that really comes close. However, searching Ancestry for John and Jerusha Chipman in 1850 comes up with a household in Cornwall, Litchfield, Connecticut consisting of John Chipman (male, age 60 years, born in Connecticut), Jerusha (female, age 54 years, born in Connecticut), Jerone (male, age 12 years, born in Connecticut) and Julius (male, age 10 years, born in Connecticut). Not trusting any transcriptions (including my own) looking at the image itself seems to indicate that the transcription is incorrect. The first letter is actually an "L" (compare the "J" in John with the "L" in Litchfield). A check with the transcriptions by FamilySearch has the name as "Lucius". So there is definite doubt in the accuracy of the transcription. The age is correct and the household seems to be correct. The earlier US Federal census records are head of household but there is a John Chipman living in Cornwall, Litchfield, Co!
nnecticut in 1840.
If this is the correct family then the John Chipman that died 29 Feb 1876 in Cornwall, Litchfield, Connecticut (FHL microfilm 3328) is most likely the same John Chipman in the above census records. A Jerusha Chipman died on 17 Nov 1864 in Cornwall, Litchfield, Connecticut (FHL microfilm 3328) that was married to John Chipman.
However, none of the online images (census) and transcriptions I looked at could confirm that John and Jerusha Chipman were the son of Lewis. But hopefully this information might help you in your quest to locate Lewis Samuel Chipman's parents. My recommendation for a next step is to see if you can locate a Connecticut will and/or probate for John Chipman. Take a look at this wiki page at FamilySearch for where you might find that kind of document for Connecticut: https://www.familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/Connecticut_Probate_Records

Take a look at the Brenan's Funeral Home [MC793] collection at the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick web site. The following has been indexed for an Agnes F. Garrick that died 2 Feb 1905:

Cause of death Consumption
As always, you need to take with a grain of salt any birth information provided at the time of death.
I'm assuming this is the Agnes F Garrick (47) in the 1901 census of Sydney Ward, Saint John, Saint John County, New Brunswick, Canada in the household that includes Andrew (48), Pearl C (12), Bessie L (9), and Lulu A (6). If that is the case then Agnes' middle name is Frederica according to the birth registration of Luella Aluetta Garrick.
What is interesting is the information in the 1891 census of Duke Ward, Saint John, Saint John County, New Brunswick, Canada of that same family where Agnes Garrick, wife of Andrew, is listed as being born "at sea".

I am looking for information on Agnes F. Chipman, b 28 Feb 1854 in New Brunswick, Canada, d 2 Feb 1905 in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. (I believe her middle name is Frederica.) She married Andrew Garrick 24 Sept 1874 in St. John, New Brunswick. I am specifically looking for her parents, grandparnts, etc. Everything I have found on line shows the wife of Andrew Garrick as Agnes Jane Chipman b 24 Apr 1854 in Nova Scotia. But I have found that this is the wrong person. According to her death certificate, Agnes Jane Chipman never married and died 27 Feb 1947. Agnes F. Chipman is my GGrandmother. To make matters even more murky, Agnes F's death certificate says she was born in Germany while other sources say Canada.
Any help is much appreciated.
