I should have said that Barefield's book covers the years 1821-1855.

Those with AL ancestors will find Marilyn Davis Barefield's "Old Tuskaloosa Land Office Records & Military Warrants 1821-1825" very useful.
On p. 29 it lists Hezekiah Chipman's land grant in Greene Co., AL, dated 8 Sep 1830. It's No. 7297. You can obtain a copy from the AL archives in Montgomery. The actual land grant shows it was for 79 95/100 acres.
Regrefully, I must ask that I not be contacted again regarding Hezekiah Chipman.

The only thing I'd change in the above sketch is that Hezekiah Chipman didn't die in Kemper Co., MS ca. 1858. He's listed as "H. Chipman" in the 1860 Neshoba Co., MS census on page 48 in Household 298/301 (see attachment). Hezekiah is shown as born in NC, while Dolly is listed as born in SC. Jess is shown as born in AL, while Susan and George were born in MS.

For some reason, Hezekiah Chipman was enumerated twice in the 1850 Kemper Co., MS census. The first is Household #349. The second is Household #511. In the #511 enumeration is a child named "Hezekiah." The #511 enumeration was very difficult to read, so you should look at it yourself, but I think this "Hezekiah" is probably yours. His mother would be Dolly, because Hezekiah Chipman's first wife was Elizabeth Lewis.
Elizabeth's mother was also named Elizabeth, and died in 1833 in Greene Co., AL leaving a will, which names her Chipman grandchildren: Charity Chipman, Eleanor Chipman, Betsy Chipman, Thomas Chipman, and William Chipman. Some of the others may have been Chipman daughters who were married when the elder Elizabeth Lewis made her will.
Hezekiah Chipman is a perennial problem in our family, and the quality of research on him isn't good. The only accurate parts of his biography in "A Chipman Genealogy" (1970) are his birthdate and parentage. The only child ascribed to him in the book, Stephen Manlove Chipman, was not his child. Hezekiah didn't marry Sarah Harris, he married Elizabeth Lewis. After Elizabeth died, he married Dolly (maiden name uknown) and had another family by her.
I've attached an old sketch I wrote about Hezekiah Chipman. It probably needs to be updated, but it's basically accurate.
